Hi guys, I have been using pics for a while but I have only played with the 16F84, 16F84A, 16F877 and 16F877A. The reason is that I built a programmer which only works with them. I was wondering if anybody knows of a programmer that I can build that works with the 16F628, 16F628A and those others I mentioned before, maybe with 16F876,16F876A too. Any ideas? *Carlos* |

I'm very satisfied with the Wisp628 programmer. Available: schematics, kit, ready-built. Free software (although I built my own). Supports the flash-chips you mention and many more, incl. those in the 18F-range. See site of Wouter van Ooijen: http://www.voti.nl/pic/n_tools.html Regards, Rob -- Rob Hamerling, Vianen, NL phone +31-347-322822 homepage: http://www.robh.nl/ |

For a more precise answer please have a look at my homepage (URL see below), select the MicroChip page, scroll down to the description of XWisp2, download the package and read the Readme and Xwisp2.Cfg file. Nice to hear that you have interest in my software, but have you a reason not to use Wouter's XWisp? You may be disappointed to read that my software currently runs under OS/2 only. Although the source is available and prepared for other platforms (such as Linux), nobody has reported having ported XWisp2 yet. I have no reason at all for not using Wouter´s program, just checking the options... I just want to build the best posible programmer for my needs (and my really tight budget!), you know, getting most for the bucks!.. Thanks for the advices and, who knows, maybe I will try to port your software to Linux or to plain-old-DOS (if there is no problem with that...). Regards, *Carlos* |
