OrCAD capture libraries for PICs - Nick Alexeev - Oct 31 4:24:00 2005
Colleagues,
I've just started using OrCAD (switched from ExpressPCB). I was
surprised when I found that neither OrCAD nor Microchip supplies the
libraries for the PIC18 family. Does anyone have libraries for
PIC18? Is there a place one the web to look for OrCAD libraries?
Thanks!
Nick

I just build my on . Just load a LIB file rather than a DSN file
select one of the
16 series and save it back as 18 series. The pin out is pretty
much the same as long as you stick the same foot print style like dip package or surface
mount and has the same number of pins.

My rant is that there is no standard library file format.
if MicroChip and other semi manufacturers said, this is the format and
offered all their chips on that format from them, the software
companies would have to follow. minimmaly with an import filter.
But, I, as others, make my own as it only takes a few minutes, and
most of us only use a very few chips.
I have found that many of the MicroChip parts are pin for pin, so one
only has to make one 18 pin chip and then re-label it.
