Discussion Groups | Rabbit-Semi | Re: Re: Newbie Rabbit vs. Netburner question...

This is a group for folks designing and programming embedded systems using the Rabbit Semiconductor C-programmable microcontroller. Rabbit Semi is a spin-off from Z-World who makes a variety of embedded modules and tools. This group is not affiliated with either Rabbit or Z-World, but is a user forum for sharing ideas, asking questions, flaunting knowledge, and other typical user group stuff. The Rabbit is a powerful uC, supported by a full-featured C-compiler.

Interesting back and forth about debugging techniques and philosophy..... my
question is about debugging running programs... All my microcontroller
projects have a serial port and I use the edit-in-a-print-statement and recompile
technique... usually have a key to turn the debug print statement on and
off... you can turn the pots up and down and watch the variables change smoothly
as the inputs change... whats the equivalent way to do this sort of thing
with a debugger? Not a breakpoint. That stops the program. I remember a debugger
from a couple decades ago that had a watchpoint that I guess was a
breakpoint, display, run sequence. Perhaps every debugger has this now? Can you tell
me what they call it so I can look for it?
