This is a group for folks designing and programming embedded systems using the Rabbit Semiconductor C-programmable microcontroller. Rabbit Semi is a spin-off from Z-World who makes a variety of embedded modules and tools. This group is not affiliated with either Rabbit or Z-World, but is a user forum for sharing ideas, asking questions,
flaunting knowledge, and other typical user group stuff. The Rabbit is a powerful uC, supported by a full-featured C-compiler.
Concurrent DC Versions - fairy_dave - Apr 27 20:34:10 2008
Howdy all,
I'm getting sick of the bugs in DC9.01 and am looking to update to
DC9.51, but am not sure if it will bugger up my programs. I know it's
possible to have a DC10 and a DC9 on the PC at the same time, but is it
possible to have two DC9 versions running at the same time? I'd like to
keep DC9.01 running on older versions for software compatability and
change over to DC9.52 as the software is updated.
Cheers,
Dave

9.01 was buggy. DC 9.25 is probably the most stable of the 9x versions.
You can get any version for ZW's web site. Just select any 9x version
from their update page. When you get to the page with "To go directly to
the download Click Here" right click on the "click here" and select copy
shortcut or copy URL. Then paste into the address bar: Will be something
like:
/downloads/DC952/DC952.zip
just change the 2 instances of 952 to 925 or whatever version you need.
The DC 9.4x and 9.5x are worse; you only want to use them if you have
to. There are features that flat out don't work in 9.5x.
I have 7.33, 8.51, 8.71, 9.25, 9.52 and 10.21 installed. There are no
problems having multiple versions installed.

Yes, it is possible. Dynamic C installs to separate directories and
you can have multiple versions at the same time. I have 8.61, 9.21,
9.50, 9.51 and a version of 10 on one of my machines.

Each version of DC installs in its own directory structure. So the
answer is yes, you can have multiple versions of DC on the same
computer and they don't interfere with one another.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone, I'll get to work on DC9.52 and
9.25 right away.
