Discussion Groups | Rabbit-Semi | RCM3700 Network Port lockups

This is a group for folks designing and programming embedded systems using the Rabbit Semiconductor C-programmable microcontroller. Rabbit Semi is a spin-off from Z-World who makes a variety of embedded modules and tools. This group is not affiliated with either Rabbit or Z-World, but is a user forum for sharing ideas, asking questions, flaunting knowledge, and other typical user group stuff. The Rabbit is a powerful uC, supported by a full-featured C-compiler.

RCM3700 Network Port lockups - aintnoprobs - Jun 12 23:32:31 2008

Hi all,

I have a product on RCM3700, where the binary image is nearly 462KB.
The product contains SH Designs UDP Downloader, SNMP, SMTP, WebServer
some applets and some I/O for monitoring purposes. It also uses some
serial ports to talk to a modem and some other devices.

At client premises, I experience random network lockups where the
device has to be given a hard reset. Naturally when a lock up occurs
the pinging, SNMP and the webservers do not work. I am not sure if
anything else works either as the network port is the only method of
seeing what the product is doing.

All the serial port implmentation has been done on 'costates' or
on 'waitfordone' commands there for the 'network tickling' occurs as
often as it needs in code. I am clueless to find out what is going on.

Is anyone experiencing such locksups with Rabbits, in particular the
RCM3700?

Now I have about 5 cases out of about 80 units. This is a too large
percentaged to be coincidental.

Just sharing the pain with the group :(

Thanks

Nil
