Discussion Groups | Rabbit-Semi | Rabbit program update mechanisms

This is a group for folks designing and programming embedded systems using the Rabbit Semiconductor C-programmable microcontroller. Rabbit Semi is a spin-off from Z-World who makes a variety of embedded modules and tools. This group is not affiliated with either Rabbit or Z-World, but is a user forum for sharing ideas, asking questions, flaunting knowledge, and other typical user group stuff. The Rabbit is a powerful uC, supported by a full-featured C-compiler.

Rabbit program update mechanisms - "mdiaz.tello" - Sep 24 16:14:48 2008

Does anyone here know if there is a way to update code running on a
rabbit via ethernet connection or perhaps by simply replacing the SD
card rather than having to connect to the rabbit and compile the
program to it directly?

Here is a concrete example of what I mean in case that was a bit
confusing. One of the mars robots had difficulties and they had to
update its firmware across millions of miles of space because they
couldn't get someone over there to plug a programming cable to update
the software. We want to be able to do something like this (except
much less ambitious!) with the difference being we would just have a
network connection on the ethernet port of our rabbit. Barring this,
we'd like to be able to just compile our program to the SD card and
update the rabbit by just changing out the SD card. Is this possible?

I've just started using Scotts Resident Download Manager
http://shdesigns.org/
It seems robust..
