DC 9.62 works fine on Win7.

The only issue I have just now is getting a USB to Serial adaptor to work
under Windows 7 64 bit. It is one of the original ZWorld/Rabbit recommended
units with the FTDI chipset.
It fails with timeouts trying to programme a RCM3000.
My other stuff with the 4000 and 5000 processors are working fine under
Windows 7 64 bit and a USB programming cable.
You might be lucky and there is an application note on the Digi website
about timeouts but so far this has not worked for me with this adaptor.
Dave.

I know what you mean. I avoid USB-to-Serial adapters like the plague. They are
so flakey.
For my laptop, I use the serial port provided on the docking station. And when
I'm undocked, I have a port-expander I attach to the laptap that brings out a
standard RS-232 port.

We are running DC9.62 for our legacy RCM3000 and DC10.70 for our RCM6000
systems.
DC9.62 runs correctly on Win7/64 on a Toshiba Satellite (Intel Core I7) with the
genuine Rabbit USB/Serial adaptor(FTDI) chipset.
Make sure you install the latest driver from ftdichip.com.
Device Manager (with the port plugged in) shows my driver details as:
10/April/2012, V2.8.24.0
Note that we DID have a problem with DC9.52 (Not 9.62) on a previous Vista
machine and had to use the utility "RunOnCPU0.EXE" (See Technical Note TN257).
This note does state that DC9.62 should automatically set processor affinity to
a single core.
As a last resort, maybe look at TN257 for your particular hardware
combination?

Cheers for that.
I am running the latest FTDI drivers. Actually, although Steve points out
that the USB to Serial can be flaky, for normal UART use they are rock
solid. It is just that Rabbit uses some of the lines to toggle state and
that is where it falls over.
I have read TN257 the other day and my installation is already set for 1
processor use.
It is quite frustrating as right now I can't debug of programme anything
with DC9.62 where it uses the USB-Serial adaptor. It does all the detection
etc but once it tries to programme the bios it fails with a timeout.
Dave.
