Yes, great stuff.

....Eleven thousand Lilliputians were killed rather than break their
eggs at the smaller end, and the Big-Endians have been
made "incapable by Law of holding Employments,"....

There's a nice analysis at:

Now lets get back to cutting our finders, while breaking the
Freescale egg at the right (wrong??) end...

Yes, Swift's satire is the origin of the endianness.

They are perfect examples of the pre-electrical biological systems
discovering the importance of grounding before EEs got around...

In the same spirit of agreement, and with the context of the original
post in mind, I would like to add that I think Freescale have as
little hope of going little endian as Signetics do of ever delivering
the ROM (Write-Only Memory). Does anybody else remember that one,
supposedly good for storing don't-care states and bit-buckets?

cheers

Although the Power PC is already little endian, I tend to side with
the April Fools explanation. Especially since another part of that
same article talked about replacing the Internet with Federal
Express trucks.

Although, I love the following quotation, even if it is probably
made up:
"I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my
telephone. My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my
telephone." Attributed to Bjarne Stroustrup

Just out of curiousity, do our non-European, non-Gregorian/Julian
calendar using members know about April Fool's Day?

Hi Dan

I am thinking about the ESD edition...the April edition...the April
1st edition...the April fools' day edition perhaps....?

Maybe Intel will go big endian next year..?

Cheers
