Hi, I am running a HCS12DJ64 at 40MHz (using PLL) so that gives a bus clock of 20Mhz. The smart battery which I want to communicate with on the I2C bus (using the SMBus protocol) can take only upto 80Khz. Now, the division of 20Mhz by 80Khz gives 250 which is no where in the look up table. Can I take the nearest value like 256? Thanks Ni

Can someone give me the pros and cons between the inDart-HCS12/D and the USB-ML-12 (version B). The biggest difference is price, ~$450 vs ~$100. I will be using the E128 at 3.3v, unless Freescale releases an E256 soon. Internal RAM will be moved to $2000 thru $3FFF. External RAM paged into the $4000-$7FFF window. I swear I've seen this answer before, but checking my archives came up dry. What is the recommended way to tell if the BDM pod is connected to the HCS12? It would look like DBGEN or BDMACT *might* be relevant, but neither seem quite right. Because the P&E Micro won't work at higher MCU frequencies, I need to make the software select a lower PLL multiplier if the pod is connected. ...

If I am in Normal Single chip mode and want to change the write once registers I can only see a few ways to do this from software: 1) Don't pet the dog and time out. 2) Somehow cause a clock monitor reset (we are not using the PLL) 3) Use an external pin to pull the reset line down.
