Hi everyone, I just had to do an upgrade of my motherboard, but I overlooked one little thing, it didn't have an RS232 header. I found this device, and the circuit seems straight forward, but I would like to know if it can be setup as a com1 device? If it does, i'll start making an internal adapter based off of the FT232RL device. Thanks Gary T ----------

I am wondering if anyone has any information on interfacing to a USB Jump Drive? (Thumb Drive, Flash Stick, Mem Stick, whatever you want to call it) I have see several posts throughout forums like this one about using devices to access SD and CF cards, but not USB. Can it be as easy as using a TTL or RS232 to USB convertor and just knowing the right commands to read and write files i...

I'm trying to hook up an Optocoupler and I'm not having any luck. It is a 4N25 and the output always stays high. I took a schmatic from another site to set it up and maybe it's not right for my application. I have the output of my device 12v going to a 4.7k resistor to pin 1 and pin 2 is grounded. I have 5v tied into a 10K resistor and tied to pin 5. Pin 4 is grounded. As I monitor pi...

Am trying to build a simply irrigation controller with 25 zones. Each zone would be sequenced on for about 15 minutes at a time until all 25 zones were activated. I am controlling each zone with a Rayex LU-5 PC mount relay, that has a coil voltage/ohms of 5VDC/125 ohms. What is the most reliable way of controlling these 25 relays with the BX-24? I've already tried, a bit quickly,...

I'm getting back into the BasicX and old age keeps me from retaining a lot of information . I have a a ULN2803a and I'm trying to fire some 24vdc air valves so I have a few questions. I'm not sure what the current rating on the valves are 1) I have several 12vdc relays and I'm wondering if it would be better to drive the relay to trip the valve or just use the 2803 to drive the v
