I'm starting a new project with ARM7 core processors and I need to evaluate these toolchains (with associated enviroment). Is the GNUARM toolchain (debugger) good and reliable, or do I need to buy some proprietary product? I'm looking for some advices, info and experiences about those. Thanks a lot.

Hello! I just wanted to know if it is possible to access e.g. 16Mbyte SDRAM with an LPC2214 with an ARM7TDMI core? I think the necessary pins are all lined out. How to connect the RAM chip to the controller? I need this RAM for running ucLinux on it. Thanks a lot for the answers, Karl

Hi all, I'm designing a system based around a Sharp 79524 ARM7 part which will be required to be occasionally reprogrammed in the field with around 16MB of data from a PC. I've been looking into various methods to achieve this an I was wondering whether the collective have any thoughts? I am not constrained on power consumption or space and it doesn't have to be lightning fast. Howeve...

Is it true, as I understand from wikipedia, that only the implementation of long filename support is commercially restricted when using FAT16? We would like to add a compact flash card interface to an ARM7 product we have. It would be nice if the card used a format that we could easily read on a PC.

Hello group, I have been tasked with investigating possible solutions for a new product. I have normally used micros with flash/ram memory onboard, but now we need to have atleast 1MB codememory and the same amount of RAM, so I have been looking for a while to find some possible setup. It appears to me that singlechip MCU's are much more popular (naturally), but I would like to ask all of ...

Hi there Looking at several processors at the moment but ARM7 and Coldfire in particular. I like the popularity of ARM and associated tools, but cant get over the fact that the interrupt structure within them (only two priority levels) is pants. Coldfire has 7 or 8 nestable levels. I would appreciate anyones view on this. Cheers Andrew

Hello again, We've decided to use the Atmel AT91SAM9260 for our project. The chip is probably a bit more powerful than we currently need, but it's always nice to have room for future enhancements, and it's slightly more expensive than most of the ARM7 and Coldfire chips we were looking at. While waiting for my development kit, I'm trying to figure out what development tools and RTOS to u...

Forgive me if this is a noob question, but this is my first chip bringup from scratch. I'm trying to bring up an ARM7 (ADuC7021), and am having a problem with the endianness of data, and I'm not sure how to fix it. My problem is this: if I call an internal function SD_OutputString("Bootloader.."), I get the following output on my serial port: "tooBdaol..re". In other words, it seems to...
