Hello All, I'm not quite sure if I'm posting in the right newsgroup, but here goes : I've just removed the display outof a Siemens C75 phone (which suffered a broken "joystick" and is therefore discarded), and would like to connect it to an Atmel microcontroller. The problem is that I can't even seem to be able to find anthing about the connections of that display (10 of them), let a...

After looking over a lot of cool projects based on the ATMEL family of microcontroller, I just bought a bunch of ATMGAG8-16PI's. I bought these because I was under the impression these where very easy to play with: + On chip RC oscillator, no need for a crystal for simple stuff + Lots of I/O pins with decent source and sink capacity - can light up LED's directly + A/D converter (...

Sorry for this OT post, but this is the group I lurk around in and I'm sure someone here has come across this application note for the ATA8402 (T5754) Atmel 433MHz transmitter: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/doc9115.pdf I have very little RF experience and I might be mistaken, but this AN is very dodgy indeed. I'm trying to make sense of the impedance-matching capacito...

Does this chip come pre-programmed with a bootloader? It seems from the datasheet that all thats needed to program it (in-system) is the use of Atmel's FLIP software, and no mention of any hardware requirements (PSEN, etc). Is it that easy?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the status of Atmel's AT91 support sites at http://www.at91.com and http://linux4sam.org ? They've been down for a couple of days (although the machine they're on is still pingable), and I have a support request that's been outstanding for about the same amount of time. TIA. Steve

How do you compare ARM MCU manufacturers for a project in the USA? I see Atmel, St micro, nxp, Texas instr, Freescale, Marvell - are they all selling the same stuff or is there any real difference? I see St has faster parts but Atmel has more of them. Is price and support all the same? Google doesn't seem to show any information anywhere on this, which is really shocking. I am wonderi...

Hi all, I have a question pertaining to an Atmel microcontroller. I have a AT89C2051 flash microcontroller. I just wanted to verify that once I program the chip with a universal programmer I have, I can turn off all power to the chip without losing the data right? So the next time I apply power to the chip, it will still function as programmed right. thank you. Regards, Phil

I have been using the 8MB, AT45DB642, from Atmel for a number of years now. It has become apparent that some of the chips we use have stuck bits at various locations. So far this has exhibited itself in two forms. (1) a consistent pattern that occurs through every one of the 8192 pages. (2) a random scattering throughout a portion of the memory. Anyone experienced something like this ...

Hello Ppl I am making my own programming cable for Atmel AVRs. After some goggling I came across this site http://wiredworld.tripod.com/tronics/atmel_isp.html I assembled the circuit, the only diff being that that the buffer on the site is a 74ls245 and the one I am using is a 74ls245n. I am sure that 'n' should make no difference. Anway I just cannot get my circuit to work. I need a pr...

Hi, I'm using a AT89C51ED2. Sometimes the application needs to start the Atmel ISP bootloader, e.g. to enable re-programming the flash. Normally this is done by the following API procedure: void __api_start_bootloader (void) { __api_wr_BSB (0xFF); __api_wr_SBV (0xFC); // stop application peripherals T2CON=0x00; TL2=0x00; TH2=...

It seems Atmel are doing the next logical thing, and releasing FLASH variants of their AVR32. See: http://www.ecnasiamag.com/print.asp?id=13245 Top MHz still seems to be Flash constrained - we've been stuck in the 50-100MHz zone for what seems like years.... Seems to make the Cortex M3 look 'ordinary' - but will the peripheral specs be as impressive as the new Infineon XC2200 ? ...

Hi, (There is quite a long background to my question, so I apologies in advance for a longish post.) I'm building an Atmel AT91SAM7S128/256 based product that needs to support the USB Mass Storage Device class. My project is currently compiled under WinARM (but can be GNUARM), GCC 4.1.0. I have taken the Atmel CDC example code, changed the descriptors and a few other minor things; pie...

Hello everyone, I am facing the following situation: I have a microcontroller (e.g. Atmel ATmega 128 or TI MSP430) connected via SPI to a flash memory chip (e.g. Atmel AT45DB014B or ST M25P80). I'd very much like to enable a second microcontroller to access the flash memory. The central question in this regard is: Can I add this second microcontroller to the bus without changing the soft...

Hello folks, I am using Atmel flash AT49BV322DT in a custom dsp board i am building. the dsp is a TI 320DM641. I have written test software that erases, writes and reads from the flash. When I send the sequence of erase commands to the flash, I am able to see write signals on the scope. Shortly thereafter, I also see the Ready/Busy/ output from the flash go low, as expected. Same thing w...

Hello everyone, I've a problem with getting the SPI the AT91SAM64 MPU to work properly. Even though I've configured the SPI mode register to use Fixed Pheriphal Select(PS bit cleared). I'm using the PDC to transmit the data. According to the Atmel documentation this should force the PDC to result in 8 bits beeing sent through the SPI per byte given to the PDC. But this doesn't work, instead ...
