Hi - I ran into PSOCs a little while ago - and I'm having trouble figuring out *what* exactly they are... Cypress calls it a "mixed signal array" - which is a term that I'm not very familiar with. They say it has a microcontroller, along with a number of configurable "elements" (that can be set to be ADCs, DAC, timers, PWM, etc.) But my understanding of a microcontroller is that it essen...

We want to use a Cypress FX2 to send 2 MBytes/sec data to a PC via usb. In order to avoid writing a PC driver I'm considering using HID interrupt transfers. Latency should be better than 100ms say. Can anyone see any problems with this? Thanks, Arthur Richards

Hi, Because of the FX1 from Cypress is hard to get for me at this place on earth, I was looking for an alternative and found a nice one: the MC68HC908JB8. I designed a little piece of hardware to develop and I'm looking for a code template now. I've searched the net, but I couldn't find much, or I have to buy the expensive USB08 board. Does anyone know where I can find a template or a...

Hi everyone, So I'm working on a new project where I want a web browser to a certain site to open whenever my USB device is plugged in and send some data. I plan on using a Cypress Encore chip and am looking over all the app notes and sample code but most of it just directly sends data like a mouse or keyboard. Is there a good resource on sending commands to a PC/Mac? Please let me know if you...

I have been led to believe tha PALCE devices are fuse (and everything else!) compatable with GAL devices. Is this correct? More specifically, can a JEDEC file aimed at a Cypress PALCE20V8 be programmed into a Lattice GAL20V8 without modification? Thanks in advance, Gary Partis

I am contemplating a design. The Cypress FX2 docs state that USB 2.0 buffers can be up to 512 bytes for bulk transfers. If USB 2.0 is only services every 125 uS then how do drives and other devices get closer to the ~60mB through put? Or even the 25mB average of drives? Thanks n

I would like to use an FPGA for a motor control application. I have worked with FPGAs before and am comfortable with what needs to be done inside the FPGA, where I need some advice is how to interface the FPGA with the outside world. At the end of the chain I need to generate an analog command voltage (multiple channels actually). My initial idea was to use a Cypress PSOC as the DAC and talk ...

both free samples and 49$ starterkit available, my should be airborn right now somewhere between Paris and my place. The CPLD is small, 190MC, but it still much more then the 16MC availabel in ADI's ADuCs or ST's uPSD devices. PSoC 5, Cortex based devices will probably only be available next year Antti

I'm new at working with USB and need some help with a design issue. My uC with USB functionality (Cypress PSoC CY8C24994) needs to operate on 3.3V but I am aware that the USB Vcc is traditionally 5V. PSoC Designer allows me to start up the uC in 3V USB operation mode, which effectively "disables voltage regulator and pass-through Vcc for pull-up", but does not indicate whether or not to ph...

Hello, I'm trying to implement a simple communication link between my PC and the FPGA. Having read that an HID is the simplest form of USB communication, being a newbie in this, I decided to have a go at that (UART has been done, I figured I could use the challenge, silly me :). Problem's that the documentation for writing the firmware of the USB controller (Cypress CY7C67300/EZ-HOST) is ver...

I wrote a multi-processor serial bus protocol. It was to connect several F340 as slaves to one Cypress FX2LP as master. The master sent out a command byte with the ninth bit set which alerted the slaves to what was happening next. Interested slaves then participated in various ways (but only one sending, of course). It was unreliable. Stripped down to one master and one slave, it ...
