Hi, I will connect my ADE7758(metering IC) to a Z8 Encore! MCU through SPI (4pins: SCK,MISO,MOSI,CS). My problem is, although the input and output voltage ratings of the two chips match(5-6Volts input and output), I feel that there should be some hardware in between, meaning, I should not DIRECTLY connect the SPI pins of the MCU to the pins of the other IC. Any help on this matter will be well app...

Hi, Why powerpc debug tools are so expensive? Does anybody know low-cost USB powerpc jtag/cop ? Amontec website mentions about USB version of Chameleon POD but no informayion for now. Macraigor cheapest usb hardware is $225 + they sell their flash programming software for $500. Any chance to find some open hardware-software combination? thanks

ML403 - Virtex4 - PPC405 - Xilinx EDK V10.1 Hi, I have a working PPC405 design to which I want to add the APU FPU IP (enough acronyms?). I have used the wizard to configure basically the same design, but with the FPU included - this is therefore the default wizard hardware design with no manual tinkering from me on either the hardware or software libraries. This now runs non floati...

Hi, Can anyone tell me where can I find a network device like those ADSL modem devices without a system installed? I want to install a customized freebsd system onto this device for my own use and school research. Nowadays the poor embedded developer faces new challenges that go outside the limited world of C/C++ program on a resource constrained hardware. Now the hardware isn't so resource constrained (Raspberry and many other embedded Linux boards or SOM are just examples) on one side. And the device isn't isolated anymore, it is usually connected (directly or indirectly to Internet). The Th...

Hi, We would like to announce that the CyaSSL embedded SSL library now has support for hardware-based cryptography and random number generation offered by the STM32F2. Supported cryptographic algorithms include AES (CBC, CTR), DES (ECB, CBC), 3DES, MD5, and SHA1. For details, please see the original blog post, here: http://yassl.com/yaSSL/Blog/Entries/2012/12/27_STM32_and_CyaSS

Any one got any good reference for most common hardware topologies applied to robotics? Topologies i mean, how the sensors or actuators are connected to the main controller. As an example, if the sensors and actuators are connected directly to the embedded hardware (for microcontrollers) or expansion cards (for embedded PCs like a PC/104) it would be a very centralized topology. I am no...

Do you know of some open hardware that runs officialy openwrt? I'll try to explain my needs. I have to develop a board that runs Linux embedded for a VoIP application. I need two Ethernet ports, LAN with active POE (where to connect a VoIP phone) and WAN (maybe with passive POE, where to connect a router). So, the IP traffic could be routed to the external router connected to WAN or, ...

I hope to get your feedback of what you think of integrating IAR EWARM (probably the same for EWAVR) with the hardware development scene. All our hardware design tools have Tcl scripting support for batching. I think it would be great to have the IAR simulator communicate with our FPGA simulator ( in our case ModelSim ) . This way we can make nightly builds possible and make tests with ...

According to the meager description in the SPRUFL6E datasheet, the EMIFA of TMS 674x/OMAP supports hardware ECC for NAND flash pages up to 512 bytes. Would it be possible to use the hardware ECC facility for larger pages by restarting the ECC calculation at every 512 bytes of transfer? Or will I have to do everything in the software? Hi, I plan to make a router application using a Coldfire, a Blackfin or an ARM7 running uCLinux. I can not find any information on the minimal Flash/Ram required to run uCLinux. My application will take about 256 kbytes Flash and 32ko RAM. Does anyone have experience on running uClinux on small configuration ? Will I have any problem if my hardware has 2Mbytes Flash and 256kbytes of RAM ?...

Due this is a embedded design, no computer interaction is required (this means that th...
