I am using IAR Workbench w/ JLink & have been thinking that Jtrace capability would be real useful. Unfortunately, JTrace is ~ $1300 for the hardware. Is there any open source or 3rd party Jtrace hardware around? I'm using NXP LPC 2300 chips mostly. Thanks, Tom

Hi there - I am stuck developing code for 8051 uCs. We have been using the Dunfield compiler, but it looks like we are going to be moving towards a more complete compiler. I have been using the 1K demo of Keil, and it seems to be decent. I've run into a bug or two, but no deal breakers just yet. I've used IAR's Embedded Workbench for ARMs, but have yet to play around with their 8051 tools. Th...

We are looking at using the AT91SAM7S64 in a new project. We had previously tried the ATMEGA32, but it turned out to be underpowered for our needs. The program, however, was less than 100 lines of assembly code for the ATMEGA32. The AT91 does not seem quite as easy to get into as the AVR. I have the AT91SAM7S64-IAR development kit, and am having trouble figuring out where to go next. Most ...

It's an old version (2.20C, October 1998), but it's the only one I could find. The program itself (DEMO) is around 10 MB; if anyone's interested (college student, hobbyist, ...) I could send it in parts via e-mail. ~Ramphastos PS: The crack was posted through Google Groups. It may take a while to reach your news server. (I used a particular text format so that it also gets archived.)

What are you looking for here, exactly? The devices are not supported by the tool you are using. Your options are to upgrade your toolchain, or upg

Greetings all, I posted a while back concerning help choosing an MCU/DSP and I greatly appreciated the input you guys gave me so I'm back with more questions. I've decided to go the ARM9 way. More specifically, I went with ST's STR9 series since it had the correct processing and ADC sampling rates. Anyhow, I ordered a kit from IAR to test things out and so far so good. My question is...

Hi- I'm pretty new to all these different embedded technologies. Currently I'm using IAR KickStart to download our application to our devices and it's very cumbersome. We have several TI FET programmers(3 USB and one parallel). Because there are many different versions(different version for each client) of our application, I wanted to create a desktop app that could list available version...

Hello All, This is a topic I discussed with others on the Yahoo forum. Even after heeding their advice such as reloading IAR Kickstart and other things I still can't load any code. The debugger responds: "Failure to initialize device". That's it, no detailed info coming back. Tried it with several targets. With and without target power. I still have to see what the FET probe is doing...

I'm using a Sharp LH79524 ARM7 microcontoller along with the IAR compiler and Segger's J-link. I was developing my program yesterday and it downloaded to the target and ran fine but this morning I have downloaded it and it gets stuck on the data abort exception. This happened with the project I did on Wednesday and I never managed to get it to load again. Both projects are based on a sma...

Hello, I am trying to program an HET for the TMS470R1B1M using IAR Embedded Workbench. While in the debugger, I am seeing that it looks like the different HET addresses are being accessed (HETADDR keeps changing everytime or almost everytime I take a "next statement"). However, I am not seeing my outputs and inputs (HETDOUT/HETDIN) change. All the program is supposed to be doing is chang...

I'm setting up a new project on an STM32F152, and and having a problem with the wakeup timer of the RTC. It seems to be running, setting the interrupt flag, and the interrupt is enabled, but not jumping to the handler. I'm using IAR's toolkit. The code looks like this: SCB-> VTOR = 0x08000000; RCC-> CR |= (uint32_t)0x00000100; /*! < Reset SW[1:0], HPRE[3:0], PPRE1[2:0], PPRE2[2:0],

(Not to start a tools war but) I'm about to start a project that will use the STM32 ARM from ST. IAR and Keil both supply high quality tool sets for the STM32. At this point, it's a flip of the coin. I'd like t...
