I've made a parallel port programmer (with HCT14 as interface) and a simple C source to programm the Atmel's S52, ISP. My baby-steps were (software only): 1. send "programming enable" and check for 0x69. 2. get signature byte 0, 1 and 2. 3. erase chip 4. read lock bits 5. read flash memory Up to this point, step 2 always returned expected data. Then I've added code to write the fl...

Has anyone experienced having their JTAGICE firmware accidently erased? I hook up the emulator directly to my PC today with no target board. Then ran AVRProg.exe and erased. AVRProg.exe showed SUCCESS! Now the 200 dollar question is, how can I restore the firmware? I cannot do any debugging or ISP programming with my JTAGICE now! Thanks, Steven

Hi, I am trying to use PonyProg and the AVR ISP (STK200/300) parallel port interface to program an Atmel Tiny12 chip. However, I wouldn't be able to program it and I got a 'Write error (-21)' error message from PonyProg. I look at the SCK, MOSI, MISO, and RESET pins and they all have signals. Does anyone have this problem before? By selecting AT90S2313, the same setup will program an Atm...

Hi. The programming interface changed from ISP to PDI on XMega controllers. The JTAG MKII can program and debug the XMegas via PDI with a software update, but only the newer hardware revisions seem to have the required hardware support. I'm not very happy to discard my current hardware and spend 300? for another one. So my question is: What are the hardware differences between the o...

Hi ! I want to add some code to check the stack sizes at runtime. while gtting the current end is quite easy with 'C' means .... asm("PUSHC SP"); asm("POP R0"); asm("MOV.W R0,val_usp"); asm("PUSHC ISP"); asm("POP R0"); asm("MOV.W R0, val_isp"); I have problems to determine the begin of the stack This is what can be found in the MAP file CSTACK ...

Hi, I have this basic doubt about the terminology of 8051 variants. I have read a couple of their data sheets and based on that here's my understanding, please correct me if I am wrong: 8051 - ?? Probably generic name for the entire family, no part named as such. right? 87C51 - EPROM variant. So must have a quartz window. 89C51 - EEPROM/FLASH/ISP variant. No quartz window. 89SC51...

Hi all , I am new to AVRs and am designing circuit for a board. My question for ppl experienced with AVR and JTAG ICE mkII are - 1) Can JTAG ICE mk II be used for emulation as well as In-Circuit programming ? 2) Are there any special considerations for circuitry of the target board to use JTAG ICE mkII for both ISP and Emulation? hi all i m using STK500/501 kit for programming the microcontoller. due to some reason we upgrade the kit by programming it through the avr studio 4. now we r using avr studio 4 to program the kit. all the other contoller which was programmed are getting programmed at the requiered frequency(stk clk = 3.69 MHz and isp clk=460.8khz) and working perfectly. but the new contoller that is atmeg...

USBasp (http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/) designed by Thomas Fischl is a very nice and cheap AVR ISP programmer. However the original version theoretically does not allow to program AVRs powered from voltages lower than 5V. Because I wanted to use it to program new AVRs working at c.a. 2V, I had to modify the original circuit. To keep design as simple as possible and to avoid using integrat...
