We are trying to use PCI backplane with multiple PCI cards including USB card. The embedded processor is X86 with DOS and 32 bit extension (DPMI). The PCI cards are producing shared interrupts and we are having problems of different types, which we suspect are either in our driver software or in the hardware (PCI cards) including the transparent chips in the backplane. We would appreciate ...

im required to make a digital clock , i made several codes using iteration for delay which give not perfect delay. So i want to have suggestion about how to use timer interrupts to have perfect 1 sec delay each time. ive written code please see am i using interrupts correctly.. #include #include unsigned char LED[10]={0x3F,0x06,0x5B,0x4F,0x66,0x6D,125,0x07,0x7F,111};

I'm programming an ARM7 microcontroller with embedded C using an IDE. Everything works fine initially after loading the program. When I press soft reset, the interrupts stop working. I tried the example codes for the microcontroller that involve interrupts and had the same results: works for the first time after loading and stops working after soft reset. Is there anything different runn...

Are there any situations where programming an embedded processor "requires" at least some assembly code? How about for AVR, MSP430, 68HC11, 8051(Atmel)? Can these 4 microcontrollers be programmed fully in C without touching assembly (even interrupts and etc.)?

I have a situation where after performing a halt and re-going on the ICE I am using, one of the interrupts effectively becomes disabled, ie.. its like it has become masked, however I have checked the interrupt mask afterwards and its still intact.. And its only one interrupt which is being affected. Maybe a hardware issue.. Its an older system so who knows. Any help appreciated. Thanks in ...

Hello, I'm developing some code for a PowerPC (mpc55x) with the gnu gcc. I'm using the decrementer to generate a periodic interrupt that should execute a C-routing. How can I write the address of this function into the Interrupt-vector-Table (IVOR10)? Gilles

OK. I've got decades of experience in the embedded space and I should be able to do this without whining for help here -- but I'm at the "bash your head against the wall until some bricks give way" stage of this problem and I'm starting to go in circles. I'm hoping that someone happens to know an answer, or will give me some suggestion that helps me find my way. I've got a project t...

Hi there Looking at several processors at the moment but ARM7 and Coldfire in particular. I like the popularity of ARM and associated tools, but cant get over the fact that the interrupt structure within them (only two priority levels) is pants. Coldfire has 7 or 8 nestable levels. I would appreciate anyones view on this. Cheers Andrew

Hi Folks I am looking at developing a new application, that I hope I can do using an 8051 derivative. Two main requirements that I have are that it be pretty damn fast (50-100MHz) and have I2C. Also around 6-ish external interrupts and port for RS232... Have been looking also at using a RTOS....but this is not fixed in stone. I am quite familiar with the 8051 and the keil uvision IDE ...

I need to know the frequency of a signal that varies from about 1 Hz to 20 Hz. I was thinking of setting up an external interrupt that interrupts when the RPM magnet goes by and to read one of the 3 timers in the processor to compute the period of the signal. Does that sound like the correct way to do this? It seems that I could do something with interrupting the timer directly instead,...
