I have several ARM evaluation boards, and they all have exceedingly similar pinouts on the JTAG port, varying only in how they treat TRST. Is there a standard out there on what the JTAG port should look like? If so, who maintains it? Is it available on the web? I'm kinda hoping for "yes", "ARM", and "here you go", but I'll take what I can get. -- My liberal friends think I'm a c...

Hi all , I am new to AVRs and am designing circuit for a board. My question for ppl experienced with AVR and JTAG ICE mkII are - 1) Can JTAG ICE mk II be used for emulation as well as In-Circuit programming ? 2) Are there any special considerations for circuitry of the target board to use JTAG ICE mkII for both ISP and Emulation? jtag, boundary scan, TAP, ICE ... I'm new to 'jtag' and the stuff/modules included in it. What is boundary scan? (Just used to identify chips??) What is ICE? (Just used for debuging, read/write to registers???) I need some webpage that will learn me the basics. Is there any freeware that will identify any chips located on a "jtag chain". /Yxan/

I was recently at a seminar for ARM MCUs and Freescale was talking about their new Kinetis devices (now I can even spell Kinetis). They talked about their "tower" eval boards using a USB connector for debug. Funny how the keep saying you can use a JTAG cable, but never actually said it uses a JTAG port! I'm not sure if there is any significance to that or not. It appears to use a standard...

So far I've been debugging using simple text output on USART s or LCD etc. I'd like to get into using the Insight debugger and go the whole hog and use the JTAG interface. The Atmel JTAGICE is too expensive so I need one of the cheaper alternatives. I'd be interested to hear anyone's thoughts on a reliable, cost effective JTAG interface which is compatible with Insight. Also, put simply...

Hello, I have built a board with TMS320R2811 on it. When I power it up oscillator works, and on RS pin I can see the watchdog reset as it is supposed to, so I assume that the core is alive. But I can not communicate with the DSP, through JTAG with XDS510PP+. I connected all the JTAG pins as they are supposed to (according to ezDSP R2812 schematics). I had no problems with my previous board...

Hi, Can anyone advise me if I can use my Olimex USB MAXQ2000 JTAG programmer to program ARM microcontrollers?. The 10 pin connector would have to have a 20 pin adapter made to match up the JTAG signals correctly. Internally it contains a FTDI FT232BM, a LCX244 and a DS89C430 micro if that's any help. tia Mark

Hi, I am trying to find a JTAG emulator for a new project which uses a ARM7 processor. I am considering several vendors, such as Lauterbach (Trace32 ICD), Macraigor (Wiggler, Raven, usbDemon, mpDemon), Emutec (DebugJet), Hitex (Tantino), Embest, Nohau, EPI, SigNum, ...etc. The emulator has to support multi-core. If anyone has use the JTAG emulator from these vendors, can you pleas...

I'm using ATmega169P in an application and just came across a need for an additional two ADC channels (0-3 are in use). Unfortunately on this part, ADC4-7 are muxed with JTAG pins. That's a real drag for me... means I have to dig out my...

Hi Group Having exclusively worked with ICE emulators in the past, I have some (probably dumb) questions with regard to JTAG debuggers. Could someone explain to me how target support is done with JTAG debuggers? I see (cheap) products which merly consist of a cable/dongle and interestingly such products do not talk much (if at all) about supporting specific targets. On the other hand...

I am somewhat confused about debugging arm processors through the jtag port using gdb. There does not seem to be a complete GPL based option.
