Can anyone point me to an example of how the adjust the timing of a delay loop +\- a given time using a potentiometer? I am using a PIC16c84 or PIC 16F84 controller. Example. Push a button to light an led for 10 seconds after which it turns off. (I have figured this out.) I want to include a potentiometer to adjust this time delay +\- 5 seconds. Any help would be greatly apprecia...

Hi There I'm new with programming a microcontroller, so sorry for some questions. I have a HCS08 SofTec starterkit. I want to control the light intensity of a external LED with a PWM. Therefor, I want to control the Duty Cycle of the PWM with the potentiometer on my starterkit. The ATD conversion is working. But my timer is not working and I have no idea why. To confirm that the timer is w...

I got some 89c51's from a canceled project at work. I'd like to learn about how to make a project myself. I've found BASCOM-51. I've found some LED projects. I'd like to start with BASIC programming, since I don't know C. Is there a windows based development system that I can learn on? I've heard of 8052-BASIC. Is there a way to put the 8052-BASIC in the AT89C51RD Flash? thank you -- ...

Hi All , I am implementing RTC code on an AVR Atmega2560 I have a 32Khz clock crystal to TSOSC1 which is used by timer2 in async mode. I have configured the clock divide to 8 so the clock to the timer is 32768/8 = 4096. It is a 8bit so a interrupt should be generated every 16hz (4096/256). So on 16 ticks make one second. If I add up second to make 5 minutes and light an LED on this eve...

I got one of the SBC1190's off of EBAY from Alltronics: http://www.alltronics.com/cgi-bin/item/24C004/search/Microsys%2DSBC1190 It's an embedded PC104 80C188 with 512K Flash & Ram. The board is as it is, no ROM in U12 socket. (MicroSys website shows a ROM in that socket) And I'm having trouble with its configuration and startup. At power-up, the PWR LED blinks, but I'm not getting ...

I've used the files from the Xilinx App Note 925 to get Monta Vista Linux Pro 3.1 on the ML403 board. In the long run I want to be able to communicate via the bus with some of the header pins on the board. For now, I am simply trying to send a command or start a program that would light up an LED on the board. How would I even go about this? Thanks,

I'm completely clueless how LCD driving works but I suspect that it works somewhat like LED driving. However, due to the 'slowness' of the human eye, I can imagine being able to drive a dot matrix character type display with this (5 x 7 pixels per character). But how many characters? And how many pixels in a full graphic display? Can someone enlighten me?

Hi all, I was just trying to use an STK500 AVR development board. My version of AVR studio told me I should upgrade its firmware. I did, and as luck would have it the power lead came out during the upgrade. Now when I turn on the STK I only get the red power LED. No other LEDs light up, and I cannot talk to the board via AVRStudio. I need to get this board running ASAP. Is it possib...

Hi, Recently I am starting to look at real-time OS for embedded systems. Most books and articles only have trivial examples, such as a "keypad task" to control a "flashing led task." In real-world applications, are there guidelines on how to break an application into tasks, such as - when to create a task - "granularity" or size of a task - max number of tasks in an application Thank...

I'm looking for a small LCD, nothing special, just three digits, but small, like the kind you find in those oral digital thermometers or small digital watches. All the standard LCD's I can find are quite big, the one I need is about .3 x .7 inches, about the size of a 14 pin IC. I can find LED's type displays in this size, but not LCD's, I need a low power display. I did buy a $2 thermomet...

Suppose I have an x86-based PC running Windows 7; I have a couple of simple tasks: o Write a single bit to a pin somewhere (perhaps connected to an LED) o Read a single bit from a pin (perhaps connected to a push-button) At what point over the last 20-30 years did something so simple become next to impossible?! I used to do this all the time over ten years working with hardware. IIRC it ...
