Hello, I am looking for a software program mentioned in the topic of this message. I want to connect two PCs (one of them is running a developed embeded software talking to the outside world through RS232, while the second PC monitors the output from that first PC using null-modem). I googled this subject before, but it returns mostly shareware/trial/ demo programs. The freeware products I...

Hello everybody, I work for a small company that deals with automatic vending machines. I'm investigating the possibility of developing an embedded system to replace the actual controller. I realized a prototype using a nettop, netBSD and a USB to RS232 adapter. Now I'm looking for some kind of ARM platform, to use instead of the actual x86 machine, with the following requirments: -...

I am new to the FPGA and I want to learn by small experiments. Can some FPGA experts tell me what is the easiest and least expensive way of getting started ? What eventually I want to implement (what I'm dreaming) are; * Communicate with four RS232 devices (115200baud) simultaneously * Control 16 parallel I/O lines * Encode/decode multi channel Radio Control signals ...

I am asking this here since you have probably met the problem. I have developped an embedded system that has a serial link (RS232) as user interface. So far we used a terminal to communicate but I now need to develop a gui application for windows 7. I have tried doing that with Excel with a commercial active X but I get an "acces denied" error when I open the port. I have also tried py...

Hi all, I have a logging product where the data is downloaded serially over an RS232 or ethernet connection. Typically multiple units are connected on the same network and polled regularly for data by the customer's system. Now it has come time for me to create such system to do the polling and data storage, but I'm not sure where to start. My thoughts are to install an SQL compa...

I'm attempting to interface a CMOS camera module [C328-7640] to my PC via the RS232 com1 port to learn how to interface with the chip. I want to set up a some automated testing of our product. I need to be able to: 1) Manipulate GPIO 2) Time edges (down to 100us) 3) Communicate via serial (SPI, RS232) 4) Set an analog trigger and record 500ms of data at > 100Hz Ideally this device (or devices) would have some sort of API so that I can write an application to control all of this. I'd really like to spend less than $800.

Alternately if anyone could tell me how to power the damn thing... There is only an antenna connection, RS232 port, one 4-wire and one 6-wire phone sockets. Thanks Ross

Hello Folks, Looks like I'll have to debug code for a small uC (MSP430) in the field pretty soon. Cramped space, things can be banged around a bit, the usual. What would be a small, low cost and bare minimum laptop to do that with? Or is there a nice PDA where a keyboard can connect to? The programmers work via USB. The bootloader I may have to provide would be RS232 but that could b...

I am using a rs232 to wire rs485 converter. I have shorted TX+ with RX + and TX- with RX- for 2-wire configuuration. A 120R termination resistor is connected between TX+ and TX-. I am using it in half-duplex configuration. Is it possible to test loopback. Because in half-duplex either tx or rx will be enabled. I have not tried this. Just before trying want to check if this will work.
