Now i need to use FT_SetBitMode() to make it high or low... can anyone please help me in doing it... I'm seeking a terminal that has a browser built in. Here are the requirements 1. Low power - like seriously low (most terminals I've seen are far too power hungry) 2. Small LCD, need only be monochrome, backlight is optional. 5.7" diagonal is absolute max. Probably prefer smaller. 3. Touch screen. 4. Prefer options for RS232, Ethernet or USB interface. I would like to use it as a pane...

Could a PIC handle interfacing via rs232 with a GPS unit, and comparing the location against a list of ~5000 stored positions, and alerting (LED/LCD) if any points are considered close enough (~1-2km, using haversine formula, perhaps)? I guess the points would have to be stored on a CF/MMC card. They would be updated/changed time to time...

Hello; I own a PICDEM2+ (LCD display, temperature sensor, buttong, potentiometers, SMBUS interface (serial bus interface instead of a regular [parallel] bus), RS232 & JTAG interfaces, connections for battery or "wall wart" power and an electronics prototyping area). The IDE software is pretty good for the price (low_cost/free), but I'm looking now at w...

Hi all, I'm getting up to speed on the MSP430 with the ez340-Rf2500 dev kit, which connects to a pc via a USB-to-serial emulator. That is, the device is plugged into a USB port, but shows up as a COM port in Windows. For my application, I'd like this device to report real-time sensor data to the host computer, where it will be logged. I figure I should really have a serial port sniffer to ai...

I have bought an AVR Butterfly as my first step in exploring the wonderful world of microcontrollers, and have worked out how to compile and load programs into it using WinAVR, AVR Studio and the RS232 connection. And all for ? 30! Now I want to try my hand at on board debugging. Do I just buy the JTAG dongle for ? 45 and talk through it to the Butterfly with AVR Studio? I can hardly bel...

A surplus store in our city is selling the "Jeteye PC" device for $1. It appears to be a rs232 IR sender/receiver in a cute small package. I cracked it open and found 3 SMD chips, a crystal and a 2 bulb IR device (plus a few caps and transistors). I looked up the chips with an online data sheet service. One of the chips is a 8 pin low dropout regulator. The other 2 have me stumped: ...

I'm searching for an embedded hardware that should run Linux OS on a vehicle. I don't need special features: - VDC in - RS232 port (not USB adapter) - Ethernet - SSD or soldered Flash (just to avoid magnetic HDD) - analog audio input and output I prefer a board with ready connectors, such as a PC desktop motherboard. I don't want to develop and produce a baseboard. It should be ni...

Hello! I'm looking for a way to build small mp3 network player. It should be something like http://mp3elf.net/ but cheaper. Could you suggest me some embedded system that has: - low price - stereo output - ethernet with tcp/ip - rs232 (not necessarily) - lpt (for LCD) Of course, it should be fast enough to decode 320 kb/s mp3 files. System could be stored locally on flash or booted o...

Hello, I'm working on an imaging system which uses C3188A digital cmos camera(contains OV7620 image sensor). It is controlled by a PIC18F452 and each frame I want to view is stored in a FIFO buffer, AL422B. I can store a frame and transfer it to my PC by RS232. However I have a problem with the images, they look gray scale although they should be RGB. I have configured OV7620 to transmit QVGA...

Hi all, I want to build embedded system with USB-based communication device to transfer data and update the configuration. I've googled and found that the USB CDC class is not "standarized" (why do we need standards if there's so many of them??)..The USB CDC is divided into : 1) CDC - ACM : For old serial modems (including RS232-USB bridge/converter) 2) CDC - Ethernet : The "real" ethe...

Hi, I don't know if there is a better group to ask about USB. I want to create a device that will communicate with a PC via USB. I prefer USB to RS232 because I plan to power the device from the USB supply. I guess I have (at least) two options: 1) I use an MCU with integrated USB interface. 2) I use any MCU, plus an FTDI FT232R (USB-UART device), or equivalent. Option 2 makes pro...

Ok, folks, Portmon shows COM6 which is the port to a scope, via a USB connection. The terminal program (TeraTerm) is talking to it via that port. Later it's going to be a VBA routine and that's why I need to monitor, to see what gets stuck or doesn't appear. Long story short I can set Portmon to monitor all other COM ports but not COM6.
