Are the Rabbits (Rabbit 2000 / 3000 / 3000A / 4000 / 5000 / 6000) still common in embedded systems? Do you happen to know if they tend to be chosen for new projects? If yes, which of the Rabbits are the most popular? Which development tools other than Dynamic C are there? Philipp

We currently use an RCM3200 in our main product line. It's a great chip for what we're doing with it, except that it's soon going to be not fast enough at 40MHz. Can anyone recommend a suitable, faster, alternative to it? The key features that we need are: At least 2, preferably 3 or more serial ports. At least 10 general purpose I/O pins, 26 or more would be the bee's knees. At lea...

Does anyone know of any 8-bit processors that can handle browser-compatible SSL reasonably quickly? We have a 44MHz Rabbit 3000 doing initial authentication in 2-3 seconds and throughput of about 120K bit/s (with no Trusted Platform Module). I'm just curious what else might be out there. - Thanks in advance

Would anyone be able to give me a headstart on implementing pulse width modulation with a Rabbitcore 3600? If someone could explain or provide me with a link, I would appreciate it. I understand the idea of PWM but working with microcontrollers is new to me. I searched the 3600's user manual and it more or less listed that it had the capabilities to do PWM, but did not describe how to use ...

I may be late to this party, but was wondering if uCOS is still free? Read about it on the rabbit pages, and also was reading about it being open, but after going to the 'main site' to get more details before i go out and buy the book, it only looks commercial now. If it is now a commercial product, any one have recommendations for a really small free RTkernel that would mate well to a ...

Hi - I've built some 16x16 LED displays using four Max7219 seven-segment drivers (each can multiplex an 8x8 array). I use a Rabbit micro to update the 7219's, enabling me to show lo-res video. The problem I'm having is that intermittantly one or more of the 8x8 quadrants goes blank, while the rest of the display continues to work correctly. It works better in some locations than others. I'...

I've been hired to upgrade the processor code in the product line of this company. The product uses older (and soon to be obsolete) Z-World Core modules that use Dynamic C v5.26. The hardware is to be upgraded to Rabbit 3000 Cores. Can anyone comment on what obstacles (if any) will be encountered in converting to Dynamic C 9.21? Vernon.

I am trying to use a RCM3000 with a USB/Serial converter (9 pin, Prolific chipset) but it will not connect. I have tried all options and configurations on the Rabbit Field Utility. The USB/Serial is on COM7 and a loopback test confirmed it is working. Has anyone had this problem with RCM or other and what is the solution? Thanks

We are designing a device that has very basic needs and am evaluating the Rabbit RCM2100 board (until we need analog) as well as a Netburner board. It needs to collect input from three digital inputs as well as possibly three analog inputs (such as temperature and flow). It also needs to send collected information to an external web server every minute (without stopping the collection process o...

Hi all! I read a lot of discussions about Netburner vs. Rabbit. No doubt - the Coldfire is a very nice microcontroller and the Netburner prices are really great with all the software included (RTOS, TCP/IP, etc.). On the other hand a few weeks ago I bought a Systronix SaJe module with an aJile Java CPU (after reading some hype-inspired articles) and was really disappointed how bad the sof...
