I'm looking for an SBC to recommend to a customer (beyond the scope of what we make.) - Up to 64 digital inputs - One or more Ethernet ports - One or more USB ports - One or more serial ports The rest does not matter much at this point, I can narrow it down from there. I'd like to hear what you folks think about the following question. First, some setup. We're looking at a major upgrade of an existing product. The existing product is over a decade old and uses a 500MHz x86 SBC to do a lot of realtime (motor control and other things) and to run a primitive UI. The new product would do roughly the same realtime stuff, but would add a modern GUI, connection...

I've got an application that needs an SBC (a redundant pair, actualy) which will survive 24 hours on battery power. I either spec a bank of big batteries, or find something less hungry than the 12-watt Ampro board I was originally looking at. I need Ethernet, 4 RS232 ports, USB, and 512MB of DRAM. I did some searching for Alchemy or XScale SBCs, but everything strikes out on the memory ...

Hello I'm looking for suggestions for an embedded microcontroller (processor, module or SBC all under consideration). I don't necessarily expect to get everything on one chip or module, we will be supplying our own motherboard either way, but the more we can get from the cpu/module then the less we need on the motherboard. The ideal list of requirements are roughly: - A fast 8-bitter, ...

Hi, I'm working on a proposal to design a box that will control a scientific gadget. Our box will output frequency sweeps, arbitrary waveforms, a couple of dozen voltages that can be changed/ramped per user desires, and some discrete logic levels and triggers. One architecture would pack an Intel-cpu SBC and a custom board in a 2U rack box. The SBC would talk gigabit ethernet to the cust...

I want to build a device to capture engine performance (eg rpm, oil pressure, various temperatures) and flight data (eg altitude, airspeed, vertical speed) for use in an ultralight airplane and to display the processed data in alphanumeric and graphical form (dials, and bar graphs) on a color LCD. Does anyone have suggestions for a suitable OTS SBC with 8-channel analog DAQ which can outpu...

Hello, I am looking for a small SBC that includes serial, Ethernet, and an IDE interface for connection to a CompactFlash or disk drive. I have been using an AVR based board from EDTP, but it has been discontinued. I am not wed to AVR. Coldfire, ARM, x86, or whatever works is fine. I would prefer a board with solid support for the GNU toolchain. The board need not include an OS or f...

i hope this is not OT. I need to port an application for pocket pc on a single board computer. The huge problem is gprs connectivity, on the pda(eten p300 gsm/gprs) i can easily connect using pocket pc API. How can i reach this on a sbc? Is there a ready to use solution, with integrated gprs(with wince installed)? Maybe a pc104 sbc with a gprs pc104 module? Thanks in advance Andrea

I need to connect a Commell LV-681 (ATI RS485M & ATI SB460 chipset, Turion 2x based) SBC to a 24-bit LVDS panel (LG-Philips LM150X08- TL01.) Unfortunately the LVDS output of this SBC is configured for 18- bits panels (I wonder who manufactures them.) Does somebody know some 18 to 24 bits converter? Thank you very much in advance for your help. Elder.

When my SBC target board (Linux 2.6) attempts to NFS mount a directory from a Host system (Redhat Fedora 7) to its home directory the following happens: "ICMP: Destination unreachable (Host administratively prohibited)". It seems that the Host PC's iptables rules are rejecting the target SBC's request to do the NFS mount. Am I interpeting this right? Oddly enough I can ping from the Host ...

I'm about to design a PC104+ board for a client with a largish FPGA on it, this will be driven by an SBC running XP embedded. A couple of factors mean there could be a delay of ~1 second until the FPGA has fully configured and I'm worried the SBC could have enumerated the PCI bus before the FPGA is ready to respond. I know in Linux you can force the system to re-enumerate the bus fairly ...

I have an appliance built around an SBC and an LCD monitor, all in a metal housing. We can't direct-drive the LCD, because of resolution/timing issues; we use analog VGA output to drive the LCD via an analog-digital board. The inside is a terrifying hive of EMI; to get UL compliance we have to seal every hole with conductive tape. The SBC's audio output doesn't deliver enough power to drive...
