Hello, I am a software engineer coming from a more higher layer background (OOP, GUI-development), but now I will probably face an embedded software project. I would like to know if there exist software architectures, standards, guidelines etc. for the menue software in a sensor device. That is, the device consists of 3 or more keys to walk through a menu tree. The sensor device has a d...

Hi, I have an ATtiny261 microcontroller in my application, and I was thinking of making use of its built in temperature sensor. However I notice the accuracy spec is +-10 degrees C, which to me seems absurdly useless. Has anyone used it before? Am I misinterpreting the spec? Thanks, Mike.

Ok, when hooking up a sensor output to a/d input we want to minimize the ratio of RMS noise to the LSB value. I would think we want a sensor with a high voltage output and a A/D with a high voltage input so that the LSB is well above the noise floor. Stand alone a/d's usually have nice high input ranges (e.g., Maxim 1271 with a +/- 10 Volt input), but many modern DSP and microcontroller A/D i...

Hi, I have been developing an application using a Microchip 18F452 with 40 Mhz clock. Unfortunately, it seems like the device is too slow for the application and I need something faster. Hence I am asking for some recommendations. My application is the following. The processor is connected to an analog sensor. It needs to sample the sensor to a 10-bit digital value and transmit it bit-b...

Hello, I am trying to build a wireless sensor controller where the sensors are distributed and a central device is able to read the status of every node. My knowledge about wireless networks is novice at best. I was looking into zigbee and then got hold of TI's CC2500 development tool. I ran the demo but the distance from the sensor to the pc was too short for my application. I was abl...

Where can I get a unit containing a fingerprint sensor, plus maybe a serial or USB interface? It is important that this should include a development kit so that we can get at the bitmap images produced Alternatively a source for say the sensor on a PCB and some simple interfacing. We are aware of the MBF110/200 devices from Fujitsu, but rather buy a ready made module to save some time. ...

Hello people, I'm wondering if someone can help me with internal interrupts. I'm using the PIC18f452 ADC to get a reading from a wall sensor (its an IR transmit receive circuit) which gives out numbers ranging from 0 to 500 (these numbers correspond to how far the sensor is from the wall). What I'm trying to do is generate an interrupt when the number is 250. I've thought about connecting ...

I've already asked this question on an electronics newsgroup (in case Jim Thompson wonders why I'm repeating myself!) but thought someone here may have had experience with this situation. I have a draw wire displacement sensor which works at HTL logic levels (I have searched for the values for these "levels" without success). The supply voltage for the sensor will be 12V and I need to tr...

I'm trying to implement temperature compensation on a Sensirion SHT11 RH sensor. I've got most of it up & going using a 16F628 + *assembler* but I am having a hard time wtih the temp compensation - in particular - all of it! While I'm not looking for an exactly correct calculation, it'd be nice to be in the ball park. (Yes I know, how long is a piece of string....) From the data...
