Hi every1, I have a question, which PC/linux software is the best to debug the LPCxx via the JTAG I see that the wiggler has software but this includes cross compiling tools, any stand alone software ? Also I don't have a wiggler or similar but I have a nice FPGA so does

Hi, We've written a Windows 2000/XP based IDE (called ArmEd) which interfaces with the GNUARM toolchain & Insight debugger. It also uses OpenOCD to interface to the target JTAG port. You can create and configure projects very easily, then build, download & debug them. The IDE was developed for use with a LPC2214/FPGA development board but can be used with other LPC2xxx targets. An ...

I am starting a new design with the LPC2106. I will also have an FPGA running at 1.5 volts. I would like to use the 1.5 volts for the LPC core voltage. The data sheet shows a some range in the core voltage but I have not seen any other postings in this regard. Does anyone have experience with this topic.

Hi, I have a software MP3 decoder running in my LPC2106, but I'm still looking wor a way to interface an audio DAC. I2S seems to be impossible to implement without expensive additional hardware (CPLD/FPGA), and I didn't find any DACs with SPI, except for the VS10xx (which w

Ok, so it seems I'm not the only one concerned with BGA prototyping or 'hobbiest' use of such devices. What kind of expense have people experienced for board manufacturing? I have used subcontractors to load boards with *LOTS* of BGA devices, and if I recall correctly, there was a $3k NRE charge to setup the reflow machines. We had a bad FPGA on one board, and that same company was able t

Does anyone have any experience designing with a 3.3V external oscillator? Everything else on my board is I/O 3.3V, but the LPC2106 has a 1.8V limit on XTAL1, and I'd hate to make one bank on my FPGA dedicated to 1.8V just for one pin. I saw one post where a resistor divider was used (330 Ohms from the oscillator to a common point, 75 Ohms from the common point to ground). Are there any...

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to use FM or other utility to download a 1 MByte FPGA config file. I'm using an LPC2378 that needs to load a serial flash over the SPI bus. The problem is that the file is too large to simply store in on-board flash and transfer to the serial flash later. Do I need to write my own bootloader code to interact with FM? All suggestions welcome. Thanks...

I have a project that requires two 12-bit ADCs with parallel output and a sample rate of ~20-30 Msps. The micro will be processing the data into a bit stream, formatting that into a data packet and sending it out via a canned wifi solution. I could use an FPGA instead of a micro but it would add a lot of cost and time to the project. I could just try it with an LPC1769, 120MHz, FIQ, for exa...

I am working with an engineer who is designing a system around the LPC2388. The engineer has created a board that places much of the system I/O in the EMC memory space through a couple of FPGA's containing all the glue logic. The engineer has not been able to get the interface to work. A review of the Errata for the LPC2388 notes that there is a bug in the EMC that could explain this. However...

Hello, Is there an LCD to VGA ready-made circuits out there? (basically FPGA+RAM) I was able to generate VGA 640x480 timing using an LPC2478. This greatly slowed down the system, due to the high load on SDRAM. Now, to go to higher resolutions, it is not much of an option on LPC2478. I have seen a VGA frame generator chip before that have built in frame buffer and then you can use LPC248 to ...

Just been reading the SSP controller & timer documentation several times over - think I have the hang of it but wanted to run it past the list in case I've missed anything.... I use LPC2378 with the mini bus. Because the software was written when only rev '-' was available I had to access the external FPGA (8 bit wide) with the GPIO pins. And this worked OK. Now I have the revision A and tried to use the EMI. I tried several configurations but had problems to access the 8 bit periphery. BLS0 is used as write strobe. When I write a single byte I get 4 write strobes...
