Hi i would like to ask a basic question about whats the difference between coding a micro controller in windows OS and other OS(ex:- Linux)?? Why most of the famous compilers(Keil, etc) can be used only on windows(Until they provide tool chain latter on after a quite no of years)? What are the advantages and disadvantages if i go for free Operation system rather than windows? What are the...

I've returned to my LPC project after quite a long interrupt. I use to use gcc & lpc21isp as a boot-loader. What tools are recommended now , commercial or not, for basic LPC development; assembler (C), debugger (IDE) and boot-loader running on Linux platform? I appreciate your opinion. I am considering an upgrade to a much higher performing machine. The AMD 64 bit stuff looks affordable and I understand Fedora 5 will support it, etc. My concern is GNU cross compilers and such for ARM & AVR projects. Specifically, is anything going to jump up and bite me when I try to move my LPC projects to this platform? Anybody out there already doing this? I don't have to pick

The application is written in delphi so the only alternative would be lazarus i suppose. I have tried C++ but I find it much easier to write with delphi since I have been using it for a long time. I have also some customized components that I would have to rewrite in a different application. I?m only using C for my embedded projects. Actually everything works fine using WINE in linux ex...

Hello everyone, Would an LPC2000 device be fast enough to act as a voip interface (i.e. ethernet in one end, one channel of audio in/out at the other)? All the VOIP software stacks I can find seem to based on Linux so I presume it would have to run uclinux. It doesn't have much other work to do so can be pretty much dedicated to this task. If anybody has had any experiences in this area it...

Can anyone tell me why I would use JTAG programming if I can do the same, except debugging, with ISP/IAP? I wrote a very small application (DOS/Windows98, Linux) for automated production programming that works on 68HCs, PICs and the LPC2119 I am testing. ------------------------------------

Can I have some recommendations on tooling up to use the 2129? We use ARMs, but under Linux, and almost never at the kernel debug, or JTAG level. Now I'm looking at working with the L2129. I guess I'll be working on bare metal, or possibly a simple RTOS. So I need to get to grips with IPS/JTAG programming and some editor-compiler-linker-debugger chain. What sort of tools would I want to...

Hi all, Since there are a bunch of knowledgable microcontroller and Linux developers that read this list, I want to describe a concept and see if anyone has developed parts. I want to look into connecting devices using networking interfaces. In some cases the 'network' will be a simple point-to-point link using a serial port (PLIP)
