Hello: I'm using the MSP430F149 ADC unit to sample a signal generated by a waveform generator (a sine wave). Whenever I run the program a high frequency sinusoid is added to the input sinusoid resulting in noisy signal. I noticed that the frequency of the noise sinusoid is 4.8 MHz which is the exact frequency of the external crystal oscilator I am using as system clock. If I use the MS

Hi Everyone I'm having a problem with an MSP430F5528: I use the ADC12 to sample an input at 8KHz, do a little processing of it, and write it to FLASH, one 32 bit word for every 8 samples (simple ADPCM audio). The problem is that the ADC sample after the FLASH write shows a big noise spike. This spike is not present on the external analog signal, Vcc/AVcc, nor on the external buffered Vref ou...

Any low pin count 430's with a sigma-delta adc input buffer amp?

Hi All, I've been trying to find a MSP430 with a 16/24 bit sigma delta adc converter, with input buffer, that has 24 or less pins. Everything with the buffer amps seems to have tons of pins for LCD's, etc. What I really want is something like a '2013, or even better, a 'AFE2xx with the buffer amp, but I can't seem to find one. Am I missing something? If not, why is this? Most of ...

I am using SPI communication to get the ADC values. I am using timer A for writing data into SPI TX buffer (UCA0TXBUF). After every 100mS, data is written into SPI buffer & read the values from SPI RX buffer. Note: Using SMCLK, for SPI communication. I am trying to go in LPM3 modes based on some ADC values in the while loop of the main function. Then exit from LPM3 mode in TimerB. ...

I use ADC to convert 2 channels analogs. I use internal Vref at 2.5 volt. I use a repeat sequence of channels. If the input channal is 1.25 volt I don't measure 0x7FF, but 0x7BC, there is a error! Why? My code is: // external clock = 5.0688 MHz #include void main(void) { unsigned char i; // setup WDT WDTCTL = WDTPW + WDTHOLD; // Stop WDT // setup clock CPU BCSCTL1|=XTS; // LFXT1 = high

Any thoughts on this problem are greatly appreciated. Background: I am using a MSP430F1232 with a 2-axis +-2g Analog Devices MEMS accelerometer (ADXL311). The accelerometer outputs voltage with 0 g equal to Vcc/2 and changes ~.2V per g when Vcc=3V. When using the 10-bit ADC and references set to Vcc and Vss, 0 g is converted to ~500 and a 1 g change causes about 70 units change in th

Hi, I am using IAR 3.2. To output some simple data:- unsigned int dcount, counter, adc, timer; .... printf("%d,%d,%d,%d\n",dcount,timer,counter,adc); The format specifer screws up the output, eg: if timer= 0xFFFF; I dont get 65535 on the console. I read thru the docs for setting CLIB/DLIB etc, as well as tried other specifiers, no luck.

Hi all, there is a 12+2 SAR ADC in msp430c3xx. Can somebody tell me the maximum sampling speed for it? and how to calculate? I read the user manual for "12+2-bit conversion takes 132 ADCLK cycles" and for a 12-bit conversion with a preselected range takes 96 ADCLK cycles". if I select ADCLK = MCLK =4MHZ. what is the KSPS for it. Thanks Jin

Hi, what's the minimal resolution of the 10 Bit ADC in micro Volt? I want to measure little votages (some mV) with 10 bit resolution and therefore need to know the lower limit of the reference voltage (to 0 V Vref-) for a resolution of 10 bit. Rolf F.

MSP430 Community, I was wondering if any of you have come across this - we think we're seeing noise on the ADC's from the chip on the '1611's (Rev. A) - that doesn't seem to exist on '149's (Rev. N). We think the noise is from the chip. Does anyone know if this could be a Rev. A vs. Rev. B issue on the '1611's? Thanks In Advance, John W.
