Hello all, i'm developing an application that uses DAC of MSP430F169. In my routine (ASM)I have a TmrB ISR every 1000msec where I set a voltage level for 1msec from DAC and then turn off all and go back to sleep (LPM3) My problem is that I can't turn off the DAC! I disable the ADC reference but the DAC is still consuming. I try to clear ENC bit of DAC and then put DAC12AMP on 0 (so the D

Has anybody worked with the DAC(Digital to Analog Converter) that is on the MSP430FET149? Is this worthwhile or would an external DAC be better for a handheld application? I have a TI DAC908 that I'm having trouble interfacing with the MSP and was wondering if I would be fine using the DAC that is internal to the MSP. (If anyone has worked with this TI DAC please let me know.) Any informati

Hi Does anyone know of any application guides for using the DAC on an MSP430F1610? I have a variable already set to a value I would like to use as the DAC's input and I just need some guidance to enable the DAC and attribute the variable value to it. Ultimately I would like to control an audible 'sounder' who's volume or pitch varies depending on the DAC's input data. Any feedback ...

DAC understand only hex meanings, right? then I use: *itoa(i, buffer, 16); but what to do with negative and float type digits? FFFF for DAC it's - 2.2V, but FFFF real meaning is 65535, do I need to take any rate in conversi

Hi Sam, Of course SAR could be realized, but what it would take would either : - be too many components, as you'd need a DAC-like function. Either you'd be using the MSP430's DAC, and that one has an ADC on board anyway. - Or you'd use PWM as the DAC, and to be accurate enough you'd need a good deal of active filtering (opamps) to make for a clean SAR ref voltage for the conversion.

Hello, I'm trying to get a 12 bit DAC (Microchip MCP 4921) to work with MSP430F2274 SPI. The DAC needs a 16 bit data sending in one burst. The MSP430F2274 SPI (USCB0) seems working ONLY with 8 bit data. When I put a 16 bit data, it just doesn't send out any data on the MOSI pin. Before I go putting a piece of code for doing bit-banged SPI, I just want to check if anyone has any idea how to...

Hi folks Well, I'm going on a strange thing...... I'm doing velocity control through DAC (3.0V stopped motor / 0V full speed) (This signal goes to a Amp Op). Ok! that works fine but when i put p5.4 at high output my DAC value gets fucked... (sorry) For example, DAC0 equals 1.5V than I change p5.4 to high and the DAC0 gets 0.8V! Any ideas????? We are following the TI code for pulseoximeter im[plementation which uses the function mul16. but the code is not compiled by IAR workbench if the function is used. moreover we have changed the code for MSP430F5437 but the configuration of ADC, UART and timer is kept the same and so is the signal processor and instead of an in-built DAC, DAC is implemented using PWM but the compiler keeps giving t...

Hi Folks, We are considering moving a project from the 4xx board to the 5xx board to get more memory and speed. The 5xx board doesn't have a DAC and some of our customers require a 4-20 mA output for legacy equipment. Is it possible to use one of the timer PWM outputs to implement this. Has anyone done it? What are the pitfalls and/or limitations from a high level view? We know we c...

Hello everyone, A little bit off topic, but I was wondering if anyone ever implemented a 4-20mA output from a MSP DAC. Hi, after spending a couple hours playing with things, I think I have a pretty good understanding of the concept of the roman black style bit-codec. My question is, as I'm outputting via the DAC to an audio amplifier, (via a filter) the RC effect will not be available. The obvious solution to me is to decode the bitstream into a series of DAC levels, and play them back at the same rat

I'm using crossworks v2, and msp430fg4618 and trying to output a 256 word waveform out of DAC12_1 using dma. I'm triggering the dma transfer using timerA and passing the data directly through to the DAC rather than triggering the dac latch with a timer. i generate an IRQ after the 256 samples have been DMA transferred. I am looking for help from anyone who has implemented digital audio stored in some type of flash and then "playe" out over DAC.
