I am implementing a data logger that stores data in EEPROM. The structure of the records is that they have a length byte, then the data, then a delimiter byte. I have encountered instances of data corruption (which of course have to be debugged and solved). Is it a good practice/idea to add a CRC byte at the end of each record in order to validate that it is not corrupt? (i.e. on reading back th...

Should the flash memory in MSP430 be used only for downloading of data or i= s it advisable to use flash memory for data logging considering 100000 time= s writing capability of flash. In my current project I require to keep log of event at MSP ports. I would = have to write say approx 500=C2=A0bytes a day and the application is suppos= ed to work for around 10 years. Or should I use EEPROM ...

hi !!! I am having problem with reading and writing data to FRAM using the I2C bus. I am using FM24CL16 connected to MSP430F1610. I have tried using the sample application code of EEPROM+I2C on the same ( i changed the address of FRAM) , but im unable to read and write. The problem is that I2CDRB register doesnt get updated with the new value. Can someone please tell me how to go a

Hi, I'm new here and experimenting with the ez430. I tried searching but it seems the I2C eeproms are more popular and there is little info on the F2012. I hooked up a Nokia 3310 LCD using SPI bit bang code by Marcel Cremmel to my F2012, which worked great, but now need to put the font and Graphics data in an EEPROM to save code memory for actual code. I found the application note on ...

I have written code for OTA bootloading of the MSP147. I cannot get the code below to work without hard coding the program and intterupt addresses. This is not very useful as the addresses will change from program to program. The program flow is as follows - Erase the Flash - Read the bytes stored in an external EEPROM - Write the bytes to flash I have comments below on the proble...

I am trying to use an MSP430F169. The part has 2 uarts, with UART0 being an I2C if so configured. I am trying to use UART0 as an I2C for eeprom control, and UART1 as an RS232 for host communications. My problem is that anytime I send data to the MSP from the host, a receive interrupt is generated to let the MSP know it needs to service UART1. Once this happens, the I2C on UART0 stops wor...

Hi, I'm developing an I2C slave device based on a MSP430F169. Another 'F169 is the master (for testing) and every now and then, the communication breaks down. The master's application is derived from TI app note slaa208 "Interfacing an EEPROM to the MSP430 I2C Module". I'm implementing a I2C bootloader for the slave device, and the control flow goes like this: 1a) Master

I am trying to talk to a serial EEPROM. For starters I am just trying to read the status register. (RDSR Command) I set CS low. I send out the command byte, and a zero byte. I wait for the UTXIFG0 flag to be set after each. I then wait for the URXIG0 to be set. After all that I set CS high. What I see is CS getting set high after the first byte is sent out. I would appreciate a...

Has anyone used the Atmel Dataflash? AT45DB021B? I'm working on porting my eeprom code over to it and their description of the addressing is a bit confusing. It has a 24 bit address. The low 9 bits address the bytes within a page, the next 11 address the specific 264 byte page (yes, 264 not 256). The top 4 are for larger parts and are 0 in this case. What I haven't sorted out yes is whethe

For upgrading the firmware "in live-system" I download the code through USB and save it in the serial EEPROM device on the hardware. For in-system-programming I would like to use a function, which running in CPU-RAM. The same technique I used on a LPC2xxx system. In this IAR Workbench it get the special keyword __ramfunc. But this keyword I don't found in IAR MSP430 V3.42A. My questions: d...
