Hi, I am trying to convert c file that compiled and debugged under IAR system into the gcc environment. Currently, i am running into the problem of that in gcc, it really doesn't recognize the msp430x140x.h file. Instead, I was told that there is a io.h file built in gcc. However, when I try to #include in place of #include , gcc popped out this message

Well, our company may be moving to the GCC tool chain from AQ430. Basically, it is a management decision of which I have no control over (not that I'm opposed to the GCC tool chain). So, I have a project which is about 60% finished, totally in assembly and I need to change assemblers. Where can I get detailed info on the binutils for the msp so I can port the assembler specific stuff?

Hi I am normally a Linux MSP430/GCC user, but am starting to have to help help some Windows users with systems I develop. I have a problem with the Windows version of msp430-gcc. On a number of Windows machines there is no problem. On a few other machines in my lab there are problems. The compiler runs, but does not parse the C files. It quietly exits with no error messages. In the f...

Hi, I have two questions: 1. What level of success are you guys having using Eclipse or Insight for debugging? I've had both 'sort of' working in the past to varying degrees but never to the point where I would say they were solid. 2. Is there an alternative? Other than printf, roll your own etc. Compile w/ gcc debug w/ ? Thanks, Michael

One of the many documents I have read in the past two weeks mentioned that the pre-built binaries for the MSP-gcc do not work well with Eclipse and that it would be necessary to build them from scratch. I have tried this numerous times by following the instructions in the on-line manual. I have missed something. The binutils build went fine, but when I try to build the gcc-3.2.3 cor...

What value for -mmcu do I need to specify when compiling for the F2013? The compiler version I have comes with a header (msp430x20x3.h) and runtime (crt430x2013.o), but none of the "Known MCU names" in the gcc error message are from the 20xx series. "msp430-gcc -v" only tells me that it's version 3.2.3. The datestamps on the files (downloaded as readymade .DEBs from http://think.ow2.org/to...

Hi, this is my preprocessor test case. #define MACRO(x,...) x MACRO(1,2,3) IAR outputs "1,2,3" whereas GCC simply outputs "1". I was expecting GCC's behavior. I worked around this by adding a level of indirection to get IAR behaving the way I want. #define MACRO(...) _MACRO(__VA_ARGS__) #define _MACRO(x,...) x MACRO(1,2,3) With that, IAR outputs "1". Is this expected behavior for ...
