Hi all, I'm working with IAR EW23 (also tryed today MSP430 Kickstart last version from TI website).FET is connected to LPT. I have this problem: When i'm starting debugger , system frozen for 1..5 seconds and restarts - i suppose something causes RAM refreshing to stop. I was truying: - MSP430 tools uninstall and - IAR uninstal - install again There wasnt result. I was reinsta...

Hello Folks, Ok, I guess there isn't anything like a bootloader that automatically starts from within IAR. Or is there? If not this could go on the "Dear Santa" wish list: A bootloader plug-in or feature for the IAR tool set. Plus maybe as icing on the cake a routine that flips the bootloader access to the UART, for those among us who are not firmware gurus. Regards, Joerg http://w...

So... I've only used the IAR C compiler to date, but seeing the huge cost differences between CCE, IAR and Crossworks, I'm intersted in getting others' take on this. So what's your opinion? Love? Hate? Cost/benefit comparisons? Worth it to switch to another? IAR: $2500 Thoughts: I like it....but not the price tag! Easy to work with...easy for a new guy to get going on. CCE:...

TI recently released a new version of the Chronos sofware. Part of the release is a RF-BSL. It is compiled and linked with IAR IDE. I think either IAR made a mistake or TI did something that caused IAR to emit wrong object code. Inside the folder: "=85\eZ430-Chronos\Recovery\Chronos Watch\Wireless Updater" there are 3 object files: "eZ430-Chronos_rfbsl_433KHz_1_0.txt" "eZ430-Chronos_rfbs...

IAR EW crashes on me all the time. I called IAR tech support and found them to be astonishingly useless. I presume that all my support contract gives me is access to the latest IAR bugs, etc. What I found, via Google search, is that you can delete the settings directory in your project and this sometimes helps. It works for me as the program then loads and works, for a while. Whenever I...

Will the IAR ICC430 compiler/linker etc overlay variables? I have some significant RAM buffers that are not used simulataneously and their contents do not need to be preserved across function calls. Some decent compilers I have used would overlay such variables (unless I told it otherwise). I can't seem to get the IAR system to does such a thing. Is it just me or is this toolset prett

Probably no one is still using the 337A chips anymore, but since I've been bitten twice by this bug, I'll mention it in hopes of helping someone else. About 6 months ago, while migrating one of our legacy programs to the IAR v4.10a compiler, I could not get the serial communications to work. The User's manual shows module enable 2 SFR at address 0x005. The IAR-furnished file io430x33x.h, i...

Background: - using MSP430F122 - using IAR kickstart I'm trying to implement a circular buffer somewhat similar to IAR appnote 430-03. However my buffer needs to be substantially larger. Even though I have plenty of space (program is about 3.5K), the IAR compiler balks with message: ---------------- Error[e16]: Segment CSTACK (size: 0x50 align: 0x1) is too long for segment definition. Hello, Can IAR Embedded Workbench 4.0 be used without TI USB TET or not?? I have made the ready made hardware of MSP430-JTAG which can be programmed through PC parallel port. In the IAR, it is given in Project----> settings----> LPT1. So is this has been written only for TI USB FET or it is also for PC parallel port?? In short, can we use IAR Embedded Workbench

Hello IAR users, I have found a strange behavior when simulating a MSP430F1611 design in the IAR. Maybe I have to change some setting but till now I cannot find where or what should it be. The issue is the following: when initiating the debug session for simulation the disassembly window shows completely strange instructions and the simulation itself cannot run. It does happen with the latest ve...

I have (nearly) finished developing the code for our product using the IAR compiler. Since I'm the only MSP430 programmer at our company, I bought the USB dongle with the license so I can compile from my office, the lab, or home. Anyway now that the code is done, I am ready to release the binary file to production. The snag is that IAR seems to only support programming through C-SPY and

Blaaaah. This insidious problem has come back. IAR says it's using a hardware breakpoint (I have set only one), and it's hit immediately when I continue execution (F5), but IAR waits almost exactly 60 seconds before acknowledging the breakpoint. Funnily enough, single-step seems to work fine - most of the time. Sometimes though, SS also takes 60 seconds(!). It doesn't seem to make any diffe
