I have a big problem. I was using IAR with a EZ430 debugging tool. I got an error message in IAR when I tried programming my 2012 which said my EZ430 firmware was not up to date, and asked if I wanted to update it now. I clicked yes to update the firmware and there was a progress box. The progress got about 75% done and froze. After about 10 minutes, I closed IAR and restarted it. Now, my ...

Hi, I have inhertited code written on the IAR MSP 430 compiler and uses the header file io430x14x1.h which provides definitions of all ports to enable simple bit manipulation of the ports. Problem is I want to evaluate other compilers and hence would like this feature supported. I'd prefer to modify the include files and not re-write the code. Here's a example of what IAR provide. A

Solidsnave, IAR will let you generate just an MSP-430.txt file in which to use for debugging. Please look at Project->Options->Linker->Format->Other. I'm pretty sure you won't have any of the C-SPY specific debug stuff available like you would if you generated a 'normal' debug file for IAR. If you're trying to load the MSP-430.txt file into the debugger from 'scratch' so t

Hello All, The IAR Kickstart software I downloaded last week from TI does not seem to recognize the Texas MSP-FET430UIF USB-programmer at all. First I thought something is wrong with my target devices or code. However, after probing the JTAG lines I found zero activity upon hitting debug. The IAR Kickstart only says "Failed to initialize device". When I unplug the USB cable it s

Hi, this is my preprocessor test case. #define MACRO(x,...) x MACRO(1,2,3) IAR outputs "1,2,3" whereas GCC simply outputs "1". I was expecting GCC's behavior. I worked around this by adding a level of indirection to get IAR behaving the way I want. #define MACRO(...) _MACRO(__VA_ARGS__) #define _MACRO(x,...) x MACRO(1,2,3) With that, IAR outputs "1". Is this expected behavior for ...

Erik I'm not familiar with IAR's 'make' functionality but can you make 'version.o' dependent upon ALL other .o's? That way if any other .o is newer than 'version.o', it will be rebuilt from (an unmodified) 'version.c'. Regards -Bill Knight R O SoftWare PS - IIRC for IAR, the .o files might be .r43 files erikshreve wrote: > Is there any way to force a c source file to be compiled

I'm used to work with IAR, but now I'm changing to Code Composer Essentials because of the 8kb limitation (IAR permit 4kb). When I program the MSP430 with IAR, if I disconnect JTAG plug from the computer and connect a battery, the program starts automatically. With CCEssentials that doesn't happen, the program doesn't start. Where do I change that in CCEssentials? This guys from TI sometime

Lloyd, I have run into the same problem. It is a small but very annoying bug in the IAR IDE. You must delete all the files in the setttings subdirectory of your project directory - then save your workspace after you have created your desired configuration. This works for me. For some unknown reason, the IAR IDE save workspace command just stops working. Anders, Any insights to wha...
