Colleagues, I'm trying to use the 16F818 for the first time (prior to this I've used the 16F84 and the 12F509). I want to use the internal oscillator, and I'm having a heck of a time getting the chip to operate reliably. I've got it set up so that OSCCON sets the clock to 4MHz, and CLK_OUT goes to RA6, so I can see what is going on with my oscilloscope. The problem is that the ch...

Colleagues, In recent threads a number of you have sounded words of caution about using C for the "smaller" PICs, such as the 12- and 16-families. What would you recommend as a sensible PIC family for programming in C? To put this into context, I have used C successfully with small projects, most notably with the 16F818, and also the 12F509 and 16F84. But I'm not an expert and appre...

My new media player needs about 8 key presses to skip over TV commercial breaks and then another 6 or more to backtrack if I overrun. I'll have to knock up a tailor made controller with all the required button presses pre-sequenced to avoid the tedium of all that button pressing. I already have some 16F84 12 button IR remotes left over from an ancient project which I can get going if I can find...

Just ported some ASM code projects from old micro where I used only few I/O. Here is a list of changes - -Replace PORT(A or B) with GPIO -Replace TRIS(A or B) with TRISIO - GPR start from 0x20. So if u define CBLOCK 0x0C etc change it to 0x20 - set Reg CMCON in bank0 for digital IO - Move EEDATA, EEADR to bank1 Tom
