I'd like to do some datalogging on a handheld PC. RS232 is my only I/O option. My test equipment is GPIB. I'm going to do some calculations on a PIC anyway, makes sense to use it for the RS-232 to GPIB conversion. I've done low level drivers for a 9914 GPIB chip, but that

Hello, I'm planning to use this programmer (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=6) for my dsPIC. I'm just wondering that if anyone has used this with a USB to RS232 cable and either did not work or worked; since my laptop (computer I use on the field) does not have a serial port, and I don't want to spend a lot on the USB version. I'm using this as a low-cost alt...

This may be a baudrate problem, baudrate accidentally coming within spec while the power is on the downslope. Hyperterminal will usually filter out anything that isn't readable. Try RS232 Hex Com Tool instead its much better, it'll show you ASCII or HEX, and if you're getting garbage it'll show you that too. < http://www.rs232pro.com/ > kg4pid wrote: > I'm using a serial routine on a 12F67

Hi All, I've got a project that I need advice on involving USB hubs. A customer has a temperature controller with an RS232 interface that we want to move to a USB design. The new interface will appear as a COM port, so the host software will see no change. So far - so good. An idea I had was to implement a second "port" on the controller so that new host software could be added to provid...
