There are some Zigbee devices that would get around the Bluetooth licensing. I think there' even a Zigbee phone.

Does anyone have experience with Bluetooth audio modules?
If I want to push audio from an embedded device to a
Bluetooth headset, is it as easy as hooking up a BT module
