I suggest that you check the 68HC24 data sheet for its example schematic.
You may have to go searching archives since Motorola obsoleted the 68HC24
some time ago. Also try the Moto 68HC11 area for application
notes/engineering bulletins that may show other application
designs/suggestions.
However, given the obsolete status of the 'HC24 I would suggest that you
look at other products.
An excellent example is the old WaferScale Integration (WSI) Peripherial
System Devices such as the
the PSD913 family. These perform the port replacement function plus more
and provide quantities of Flash based expansion memory plus additional RAM
space.
Best wishes, Bob Smith

See data sheet for more details.

Shouldn't be. Looks just like original PortA and PortB on
'HC11.

It may not be available from Motorola, but production is in full swing at
TEKMOS. I think they go for about $9 each in hundreds. Now if I could
just find someone making the 68HC811 things would be rosy!

Well, realize that this may not be very helpful-depending on why youe
working with the 68HC24-but my understanding is that the 68HC24 is no
longer available (at least outside Motorola for use in its emulators).
They have taken the documentation off the website, last time I looked.
If this is for a new product, suggest you take a look at the PSD813
series from ST. These parts provide glueless connection to the 68HC11,
provide the port replacement function, and also include flash and RAM
memory.

hello everyone im trying to connect the 68hc24 pru to a hc11e1. i
have made the follwoing connections and still cant get the pru to
interface with the hc11.
68hc24 68hc11
pru mode pin 43: is tied to plus 5 volts

pin 30 to 33: a/d multiplexed outputs pc7 to pc4
a12 pin6 : hc11 a12 pin
a13 pin5: hc11 a13 pin
a14 pin 4: hc11 a14 pin
a15 pin: hc11 a15 pin
irqn pin28: tied to +5 volts thru a 100 k resistor

+vdd pin17: tied to +5 volts
cs pin44: hc11 a11 pin
strb pin18: r/w /strb pin hc11
stra pin7: AS/stra hc11
im wondering if there is any neccessary decoding needed for the
r/w /strb pin and the as/stra pin, since these are dual function
pins from the hc11.also is there any necessary intilaization neeeded
software wise to make this interface work properly.
