Essentially they are completely different ideas, about the only thing they 
share is that they're both serial networks.

There is really no such thing as "RS232 Protocol"  It is an electrical

specification.

They are about as different as night and day.  But why didn't you use 
Google to search before you posted here? My first attempt on Google
