Hi Edward,

The fake parts came from www.stealthcomponents.com

The local distributors was short of this parts, so we search the web for
them.

best regards,
Guillermo.

Hi all,
I found similar problems, time ago, with xx128 parts re-marked as xx256. They were probably coming from Asiatic, non-official sources. ( i.e. people marking pieces on demand).

Regards,

Jordi

Guillermo,

I think you should open Service Request here:
https://www.freescale.com/webapp/servicerequest.create_SR.framework

Since S12A page doesn't list 3L80R maskset, I tried to search for this
keyword. It seems 3L80R is S12B128 maskset!!! This could explain why "new
A64" doesn't have modulus down counter. S12B family (if I remember it well)
has TIM module, not ECT, so no modulus down counter. But for years,
according to documentation S12A64 (plus CAN module) was the same like S12D64
and should be ECT equipped. S12D64 device guide lists S12A64.

Regards
Edward

Thanks for forwarding this information.

3L80R ?? [[ FAKE PART ?!]]
This is what freescale answered to my service request:

Dear Guillermo Molina,

In reply to your Service Request SR 1-602446961:

This part is obviously fake part - the mask set 3L80R corresponds to family
S12B, not S12A. The print on the chip is impossibly coming from Freescale.
Most likely they were relabeled and probably bought from a chip broker.
These parts were not delivered by an authorized distributor of Freescale.

Edward,
Good point!, I've also searched for mask 3L80R and found it in S12B128,
but I didn't realize that B series didn't have the ECT, this may explain
my problem.
I've submited a service request to freescale as you advise me, lets see
what they say...
I'll inform any findings in this forum.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Guillermo.

Hi,

I'm having trouble with a new production of an old product that I've been
manufacturing for years. (thermal printer controller)

I've traced down the problem to the Modulus Down Counter not working on
9S12A64s with mask 3L80R.
In these 3L80R chips the Modulus Counter Registers are not accessible at
all, i.e. writing any value with the BDM Debugger to register MCCTL always
reads 0, this same test with mask 2L86D and others works OK.

Have any of you been faced with a similar problem ?
I've searched for erratas and googled without any success.
Have I found an errata or am I doing something wrong ?

Best regards,

Guillermo Molina
