Most starter kits are not expensive for SH3 and linux, even come with SHLinux
and tools for the board.
You have looked at www.shlinux.com for information then?

Dear all,
I'd like to build my own prototype board based on Renesas SH-3 DSP
(SH7727) that could be ready to run embedded Linux on. I know how the
memory structure (types of memories and address assignment) should be
done as far as I write my own bios but I'd like it to be also ready for
embedded Linux. I have found many software examples in this matter but
could not find any hardware reference designs. It seems that none of
embedded platform manufactures gives access to schematics with exception
- you can get ones when buying starter-kit.
Best regards
