Indeed, so I see, but they don't seem to be real (yet). The estimate
is mid-July 2004. There was also supposed to be an 18F in the 8-pin
package but it never made it..

Not true. There's a 16F54 and a 16F57, both of which use are flash
versions of the 12-bit core.

MPLAB PM3 device programmer is fully supported in this interim
release. Components with new device support include:

Not quite, but changes should be fairly trivial unless extensive use is made of RAM banking.
Mostly removing page-preselect stuff and changing RAM/SFR locations.

What about the 12F629 etc.? Flash, eight pins and lots more stuff in it
