Or even more to the point, there are free and open-source tools for
the AVR that are stable and quite good, including gcc, gdb, insight,
and more. WinAVR provides a complete package for Windoze platforms.

I must say I expected this kind of reaction even before posting, but I
decided in favor of sharing anyway; I really thought that at least
someone would be interested in a cr*cked version of IAR. Surprisingly
enough, no one was.
I removed my original post to this group (the message is no longer on
the Usenet archive). The binary post was instantly rejected by Google
Groups (I changed the subject title to reflect that).
I'll continue my search for both IAR and Keil and post my findings to
the relevant newsgroups/Web sites. I won't disturb this group ever
again.
Thank you.

Why involve yourself in copyright infringement when a toolchain for the
MS4P430 is Free and OSS ?
http://mspgcc.sourceforge.net/
Here you will find a port of the GCC toolchain for the Texas Instruments
MS4P430 family of ultra low power MCUs, This includes the GNU C compiler
(GCC), the assembler and linker (binutils), the debugger (GDB), and some
other tools needed to make a complete development environment for the
MSP430. These tools can be used on Windows, Linux, BSD and most other
flavours of Unix. However, the full debug environment is currently
limited to Windows, Linux and BSD.
MSP430 development is no longer limited to Windows!

It's an old version (2.20C, October 1998), but it's the only one I could
find. The program itself (DEMO) is around 10 MB; if anyone's interested
(college student, hobbyist, ...) I could send it in parts via e-mail.
