I have used the MC14515X series PLL chips quite a bit. I've been using
an
AVR to send the data to an MC145158. It should be relatively easy to do al
sorts of things with those chips.
All you need to do is somehow cut the traces or gain access to the
appropriate pins on the device so you can connect the AVR lines to it, and
then determine how to program the PLL chip so it does what you want.

The PLL is an MC145152. It is normally programes by a pair of Eproms, on for TX
one for RX, which are in turn addressed by a pair of BCD Thumbwheels. The air is
to remove both the thumbwheels and the EPROMs.

can help. I would like to build an interface to connect the the PLL of som old
Two way radios in order to make use of them for ham radio.
I will try to summerise what is needed.
Count up and down with either a couple of push buttons or a rotary
controller.
Disply either a chanel number on a pair of 7 seg LED displays OR show the
corosponding frequancy on an LCD Display. This dosnt need to read actual
frequecy, just the frequency that corosponds to that chanel number.
16 bit binary code output, this changes from Recieve( RX) to Transmit (TX) so i
will need the processor to be aware of the change, its easy to pick up 0 or 5
volts from the radio to indicat if you are in TX or RX.
Ease of programing...USB? Serial?
Any Ideas or suggetions would be greatly appreciated.
