Thanks Grant,

It didn't occur to me at all to look at the headers :-)
Well, now I know there's an mspgcc list - which of course leads me to wonder as well why
C questions wrt GCC keep popping up here.
Perhaps the Ops don't/didn't know that there's an mspgcc like me...

Best Regards,
Kris

The query was cross-posted posted to both the mspgcc mailing
list and the general msp430 list.

Since you've only followed up to one of the two lists, that's
correct.

I don't understand this business about GCC lists and so on ?
I thought this was a general MSP430 list ?
There are users here that use CrossWorks, GCC, IAR, ImageCraft and AQ430.
CrossWorks has its own list, so does AQ430, dunno about the rest...

Funny thing also is that in the history of this list (getting on to 7 yrs I think) I've asked only
a few questions, and not a single person has EVER replied or attempted to help, although I know
there's several members that could ? (save for my OT Vista post).
Oh, well - doesn't mean I'll stop helping others here and there, it's my good deed for the day :-)
Best Regards,
Kris

Depends....

I'd consider it bad form to post to the Crossworks list and the MSP
list. Most of the members are the same. However if I post to
Crossworks and don't get an answer in a reasonable amount of time then
I'd post elsewhere.

I'd consider it okay to post a general programming/style question to the
MSP list and PIC list at the same time to be okay.

It all depends on who the expected reader is.

General question to the Web cogniscenti:

Is it considered acceptable to post the same question simultaneously in
multiple forums?

On Usenet, it's considered acceptible as long as you cross-post
and not multi-post. I read both of the lists in question via
gmane's News server, so cross-posting works the way it's
supposed to (I only see each posting once). So it's fine by
me.

If you're reading the two lists separately, I can see how it
might be a bit annoying -- especially since asking questions
about the IAR compiler on a GCC mailing list is probably pretty
pointless.

You do realize this is a gcc mailing list, right? That
probably means pretty much all of us use gcc and not IAR.

You should probably ask IAR.

Or you could ask on the general MSP430 mailing list.

It always baffles me why people don't ask the vendor questions
like that. If you can't get an answer from them, then you
shouldn't buy from them.

Ah. I didn't notice that you had. My bad.

Yes, if you accept the terms and conditions.

Yes. But if you use c instead of assembly, the code size is limited
to 4 KB.
