You could use a proper compiler? Try the eval versions of the Keil, IAR
or Tasking compiler.
They are a dammed sight more efficient than SDCC (and a lot more
reliable) They also come with examples. See the web sites.

Like for a Dallas TINI? I hacked on one a few years back and did some
junk with SDCC and Keil's compiler. The TINI I tinkered with was an
80C390 as I recall. If you want, I could send you the first "hello
world" program I did on it using SDCC.
