Yes, secondly I could see where loading it via serial would be an issue.

Has anyone actually succeeded? All related info I've seen so far seem
to indicate that the mess that DC is, after fiddling with file naming
and things, you run into a dead end with serial port access and timings.

I would suggest you also try either CrossOver Office or WINE to get
Dynamic C to work under Linux.
