Hi Jeff,
The Beagleboard is not recommended for production systems and as such is the
reason they limit supplies. This is stated in the license.
There are a number of alternative companies offering similar type boards.
This one for instance is $120 with a 4.3" LCD display. It could be less
without but no pricing on the website for this. Worth asking though.

You get all the source code as per the Beagleboard so you can tinker with it
and build your own OS with only what you need.
I am using a mini6410 running Android from Andahammer which I now have the
compiler working correctly.
There is also this one for $85 with a 3.5" LCD.

By the way, if you are interested to try Android out, I have now gotten
serial ports to work with my board. I was ready to move to Linux because of
the lack of support for serial in Android but now I can work with them, I
can develop apps quickly.
Cheers,
Dave.
PS.. Rabbit is still being used by my company. It is all down to what your
needs are and like you, I often need a little more power and capacity which
the rabbit does not offer.

Subject: [rabbit-semi] Linux Single Board Computer?
Hi!
I've been using the RCM2200 for 5+ years in a commercial product and the
new
RCM6750 in a current product. While the module is working fine, I'm
realizing I'm asking for just a little too much from it. Specifically I
have
users that are pulling growing HTML web pages from multiple clients
simultaneously (iPads, PCs, cell phone, etc.) and the module just can't
keep
up with the demand.
I think I'd really like a single board computer (SBC) that runs Linux and
is
under $100 in Qty 100. I need an ethernet port and multiple serial ports (or
USB that I could use a usb to serial converter in). I recently came across
the BeagleBoard xM but it's $149 and it doesn't look like you can
order more
than 25 per person.
Thanks!
Jeff
