A loopback test can only confirm the very basic aspects of a RS232
serial port. USB<-->Serial converters have acquired quite a
reputation around here for often not getting some aspects of RS232
besides pure RX<-->TX wrong to varying degrees. This ranges from
"simply missing" to "works most of the time, but sometimes it'll be
just that critical bit too late, especially if you move a USB mouse on
the same host a bit too much".

I am trying to use a RCM3000 with a USB/Serial converter (9 pin,
Prolific chipset) but it will not connect. I have tried all options and
configurations on the Rabbit Field Utility. The USB/Serial is on COM7
and a loopback test confirmed it is working.
Has anyone had this problem with RCM or other and what is the solution?
Thanks
