Not clear what you are after but I will hazard a guess. You are seeking a device that will attach to a USB port or and IDE port that will acta as a solid state version of a disk. If I am wrong in that assumption then the rest will not be relevent. On the USB front there are plenty of devices like my Pen-Drive which is a handy dongle device that plugs into a USB port and can be treated as a removable disk drive by the OS. It is quite robust (has to be as it lives in one of my pockets) and the one I carry most is 32Mbyte. There are bigger ones around though and you may struggle to get a small one. I think they use FLASH memory. On the IDE front the closest I have seen is one that plugs into the PCMCIA slots. A range of devices here from companies such a Memory Card, Fujitsu and Hitachi. Some SRAM, some FLASH. Again they can be treated like disk drives by the OS. You could try Triangle Digital Services (see their link from my Forth page) who do have these PCMCIA devices to go with their TDS2020 data logging set-up. -- ******************************************************************** Paul E. Anyone know of an IDE or USB Battery Back S-Ram that can be accessed like a
normal drive? Small, like 256 or 512K would be fine. I found a couple of
manufactures that have a PC104 CF Adapter with Battery Back S-Ram onboard
but they must be out of business because no replies for more info.
