ADS1115 in TI ADS1115 / ADS1118 ADC Family
The ADS1115 family from Texas Instruments consists of ultra-small, low-power, 16-bit precision analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). These devices integrate a low-drift voltage reference, a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), and an internal oscillator, facilitating high-resolution measurements in space-constrained designs. Operating over a wide supply range from 2.0V to 5.5V, these ADCs utilize an I2C-compatible serial interface, making them a standard choice for augmenting the limited analog capabilities of microcontrollers in precision sensing and monitoring systems.
Variants in This Sub-Family
Variants within the ADS1115 and its close relatives primarily differ in interface type and resolution. While the ADS1115 uses I2C, the sibling ADS1118 utilizes SPI and includes an integrated temperature sensor. Designers can also select the ADS1015 variant if only 12-bit resolution is required for higher speed applications, or move to the ADS122c04 if 24-bit precision is necessary while maintaining a similar integrated feature set.
