BQ25504 in TI BQ24xxx / BQ25xxx Battery Charge Family
The BQ25504 series by Texas Instruments is a specialized family of ultra-low-power energy harvesting management ICs designed to extract microwatts to milliwatts from high-impedance DC sources. Primarily utilized for boosting power from thermal electric generators (TEGs) or small solar cells, these devices integrate a high-efficiency boost converter with integrated power management to charge Li-Ion batteries, thin-film batteries, or conventional capacitors while preventing battery depletion via programmable undervoltage protection.
Variants in This Sub-Family
The BQ25504 serves as a base boost-charger unit within its family. While the primary silicon remains consistent, variants within the broader BQ255xx series differ primarily by integrated power rail management. For instance, the BQ25570 variant adds an integrated buck converter to provide a regulated output voltage, whereas the BQ25505 variant adds an autonomous power-path multiplexer for seamless switching between harvested energy and a primary non-rechargeable battery.
